    Mar 12, 2011 - Silent Hill Nurse costume #1

    Hello everyone,

This is my first thread about some work I have done in the past. I was looking for a costume project last summer to join a group of friends at a convention. Time was pretty limited (a week) and took some few days of vacation to create the bubblehead nurse in the Silent Hill movie.

    Shaping the head

Using my boyfriend plaster head cast (thanks honey!), I shaped the mask using strips of basic fun foam and melted camping foam with an heat gun.

Next, I added layers of mask latex, facial tissues and cheese cloth.

For the skin dress, I used my old High School science robe... (why did I kept that for so long... I guess it was meant to be ) A few stitches later, the dress was ready for massive latex work.

Using the same method as the mask, I added layers of latex and pieces of tissue on it.

My boyfriend was nice enough to make me this weapon of choice, so I could look a little more evil

After many hours of hairbrushing the costume, the final result:

FYI, the veins were airbrushed on my skin the day we did the convention. Call me crazy, we did it with createx paint.. and yes.. it itches after a while but the final result was beyond my expectations.

    Hope you enjoy this!

    Melle

    Wow, very, very cool.

I really like the look of the latex-tissue-cheese cloth, technique, it turned out awesome!

Is the lab coat stiff, or is it more like, just, thick, but pliable, like a rubber Halloween mask?

The dress is pretty adjusted and tight. Since my Science lab robe was made of polyester, the end result is not stretchable. Adding to that I have modified it to make sure it fits my body perfectly. If the dress would had spandex in it.. the result would have been more stretchy and even more custom fit. But I made this on a very low budget so I took what I had in hand.

The combination of latex+tissue+cheese clothe made a perfect effect. Many people were creep out as it looked exactly like rotten skin.

I love what you did with the dress, that's an extra step that not many people take with the costume, and the extra effort really shows. Excellent job!

Wow..what an amazing effect youve done , the costume looks incredible!

How do you put the mask on? It looks totally fitted to the head from the front.

The mask has two parts, the front part overlaps the back part, snapped with velcro. The hat is glued to the front part which hides part of the overlap.

I must say it's extremely tight and warm to wear. But so much fun to see some people face painted with disgust. I made so I can see from both eyes, but no one can see my eyes and smile!

@Objetivotuning the mask is in my living room.. looking at us all the time

Thanks again for your feedback. Really appreciated. I am currently working on a project since last August.. I am trying to keep it secret for now since, to my knowledge and research, has not been done yet. Will post some photos soon. But its way more ambitious than the nurse

hello! i just had questions about your marvelous work here. ive asked others and to no avail received any replies. i was wondering if you could help with my questions. Where can i find liquid latex for a good deal? So you know of any good stores that have it? And for the ends of the dress, was it just torn or ripped in any way? Also for the cheese cloth on the mask, the latex acted like a glue correct? Sorry its just wanted to do this for halloween and im a bit lost to everything. please reply soon thank you!
