Seeking opinion on this Vader helmet and mask

Hi all. Relatively new here. Not sure if this is in the right forum or not. If not, I apologize.

I am looking for a better helmet than the one that came with my Darth Vader deluxe suit.

I have seen this one on Ebay, and would like the opinion of experienced Darth Vader fans and members. Is this way overprices for what it is, is it worth the money? I am not a trooper but I do want a very nice looking helmet and mask for my costume.

I was hoping the experienced members on the board could guide me, and maybe stop me from making a mistake. Anyone please?

That's a Portumac Vader. It's cast off of a DOn Post delux (which itself comes from an original studio helmet a couple generations removed). And the dome has been idealized to make it a bit more symmetrical. Sideshow recasted one of Portumac's Helmets for their Vader busts, so aparently it was good enough for them. For 195 it's a good deal.

Here you will find a wealth of information on all sorts of props and costume items. Some of the pieces can get really high-end, and folks are always ready to debate even the tiniest details!

Somebody is bound to point it out, so I'll just mention it: posting live auction links is not allowed by the forum rules. A workaround is to describe the auction using unique words so that interested googlers can track it down.

I did not bid on it because I didnt know if it was a good bet to buy it or not. It ended before anyone responded to my inquiry.
