In search of Xena costume
as the title say, I'm searching for a high quality Xena costume for a friend.
I've only found one really good one: Todds Costumes so far any other suppliers? It needs to be HQ, because she would be using it professionally for preformances. |

Has she considered having one custom made by a local seamstress?
You could provide the pattern and fabric/leather/buckles etc (It's been a while since I have seen Xena) and just pay for labor. Just a thought... Good luck and have fun with it! |

No, a local seamstress will not do. It has to be someone who works with leather and is familiar with the right techniques.
I did a lot of extra work on Xena (to the point I was recognised by name by crew when most weren't- basically as I was a doer rather than shuffler  ) and got to see these on the inside and out. What makes them amazing costumes is what went inside. The leather was supported througout and the seam allowances hammered back and glued. There was really good padding in the bust cups (it wasn't called the show that supported the Wonder Bra for nothing) and all round requires heavy hard ware.I would offer to make one but Todd's already does it for the price I would as that is fair for the work involved. High quality comes with a high price for a reason And I have only ever heard good things.

Id second this. Ive seen some of the screen used costumes too and was amazed at the work quality.
If i were still in business this is what id charge for a screen accurate Xena costume |
