robo3687's Master Assassin Ezio Build (Pic Heavy)

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build

yeh i'm sure i'll be able to sort something out, i might try and make a couple of the pattern pieces tonight.....

i also bought myself a pair of leather gloves today which should do nicely for this....they're black but i've decided that the majority of the leather on this one is going to be black (to match the concept art)....

these are the gloves

i also remembered i had some black faux leather upholstery vinyl from an old woodworking project (for a seat) in high school.....not sure how much i actually have, still have to find it.....

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build

apologies for the double post....i have updates!

so with it being cold as all heck outside, i stayed home and got my pattern making on....

I forgot to take pictures as I was making the patterns but basically what i did was this....

1. separate the pep back into its individual sections (i broke it down into the individual panels from the hood in the game)
2. stick lots of little rolls of masking tape all over a piece
3. stretch and pull and fit the fabric (calico is what i'm using for my testing) over the piece trying to minimise any gathering
4. trace around the outside of the piece
5. remove pep and you're left with a pattern on the calico
6. trace around calico piece onto paper and do final cleanup, straghtening of lines etc
7. cut out patterns

this is where i was after all that

hoodpattern.jpg

then i just traced those onto some calico, making sure to flip them when i did the other side, and then cut it all out....

now i think i'm gunna go sit in front of the tennis and sew some of this together.....

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build

cool build i look forward to future updates

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build

Awesome out fit. Following this with interest! :)

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build

and here. we. go.

finished sewing up the test hood....and i think it worked quite well....it surprisingly holds its shape really well even just with calico....the proper thing will have a thicker, heavier cotton with a satin lining, so I think it should hold up perfectly.....

its still sticking up a bit at the back cos i couldn't reach to stick it down with masking tape....lol....

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build (Pic Heavy) - 4/7/10 Test Hood Sew

The template worked out extremely well.

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build (Pic Heavy) - 4/7/10 Test Hood Sew

thanks

---------

sometime last year i was going to make a hi-res 3d model of ezio as a personal project, but for whatever reason i never finished it.....but the benefit i'm now finding is that I can reuse a lot of the assets I had for it...

i reworked the vambraces to make my patterns on page 1 and today I rejigged the chest armour and now have patterns for it.....here's the model with the hood....

I'm going to try and make those armour pieces out of the foam I've bought....mostly for comfort's sake...but if i can't get it looking how I want I'll have to find another way...

Great !!!

I have not played the game so i know nothing about the costume in action, but it looks like the lower part of the hood could be closed to cover up the mouth and just leave an opening for the eyes. That would make it necessary to shorten those endflaps that are currently just hanging down. Or am I interpreting too much into the design that is not there?

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build (Pic Heavy) - 4/7/10 Test Hood Sew

Robo for the Win! This looks amazing.

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build (Pic Heavy) - 4/7/10 Test Hood Sew

Looking really good so far!
And the idea of pepping the hood pattern is fantastic... may have to try that in the (distant) future :)

it does kind of look like that, but they're really just like an over exaggerated collar....the collar of the undershirt is like that as well and comes out and sits on top of them.....

AMAZING JOB DUDE! I was just tellin my friend PrinceNEO about this thread (even though he hates the Master Assassin suit go, figure) and all he had to say about the pep idea was, and I'm quoting him, "That's a dumb idea. There are templates for it all over the internet. He just wasted his time..." and other things I won't mention but thats NEO for you. I personally think the idea was great and I need to ask, will you be releasing those templates once all is said and done? I would personally love a copy to use since it gives me an excuse to do the suit which I've been wanting to ever since I played the game. Please reply. L8r dude

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build (Pic Heavy) - 4/7/10 Test Hood Sew

lol if there's patterns out there i'd love to see them....because i searched for a long time and there weren't any....

I do plan on releasing the patterns at some stage....but it probably won't be until everythings done, to avoid releasing something and then having it be wrong and having to make changes.....

SWEET! Can't wait to see how this turns out. And I do agree with waiting to make sure everything's right. Its not as simple as with pepakura where you can re-pep something should a better version come out. You would've wasted fabric and thread unless you can unstitch it without ruining the peice :/

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build (Pic Heavy) - 4/7/10 Test Hood Sew

The pattern turned out great, and the upper and the back are simply awesome, I have a nitpicking though...
Those "flaps" were a separate part of the outfit as far as I know, it should be the collar of the doublet, I don't think those are part of the hood:(
Even in the master outfit the hood should be basically the same as seen here: http://www.temmink.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/IMG_0006.JPG http://www.opentorrent.ru/imagehost/2663/090410231446t0_0.jpg

But the upper part is just perfect! :)

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build (Pic Heavy) - 4/7/10 Test Hood Sew

i thought that at first as well, but then when i went into the game and really sat there looking at it I realised that the outer flaps are actually a part of the hood.

the hood on the altair armour is completely different to that of the normal suit, in that it as a whole is separate from the rest of the clothes whereas the others are a part of one of the tunics....

here's 2 pics showing how the flaps attach onto the hood

hoodflaps01.jpg

hoodflaps02.jpg

and looking at those i think i need to make them a bit longer/bigger.....

Re: robo3687's Ezio Auditore Master Assassin Build (Pic Heavy) - 4/7/10 Test Hood Sew

double post again (is there are strict "no double post" policy here? the rpf seems a more forgiving place than some other forums I've been a part of, which is a pleasant change)

--------------

i didn't have a lot of free time today, about 3 hours this afternoon.....but i made some real progress....

a couple of my ebay purchases arrived (eyelets, eyelet setter, leather cord) and I found my black faux leather vinyl....

i didn't have as much vinyl as I thought I would but I should have enough for several pieces before I have to buy some more (I think it was like 15-20 bucks a meter....gulp)

so I completed 2 parts of the costume.

Ezio's Necklace
necklacecompare.jpg

A little bit of creative freedom was taken, as far as the pattern on the beads, and using darker beads to space the silver ones.
necklacej.jpg

and

The Inner Part of the Left Vambrace
I'm really proud of how this came out, I sewed all the hems by hand (took about 1.5 hours), cut the holes for the eyelets, set them and then laced it up. I decided not to use foam for this part (since it hasn't come, and the eyelets wouldn't have fit) and its come out quite comfortable...

Re: robo3687's Master Assassin Ezio Build (Pic Heavy) - 6/7/10 2 parts complete!

Oh, I see, you're right:)

Also I like the necklace a lot:thumbsup

(if you will ever make a pattern for the "standard" hood, you already know that there will be at least ONE person interested...;))
