Hi:
I'm interested in learning a bit about mask making, in advance for halloween parties... Anyway, i thought it'd be nice to learn how to make a plaster mask. I looked some tutorials about it, found a very good one at instructables about making a Joker Thug mask. I'm very lighthearted about this, i'm not really into the cosplay scene.
As i'm just learning, i figured i should start with something easier, for example, a Hannibal Lecter restraining mask. So i made a plastiline model, poured some vaseline on it, and started applying wet plaster-coated strips. Applied two layers, then dried them with a hair-dryer. I took the plaster apart, and it kept the mold shape very nicely.
My question: The mask feels very flimsy, i'd like to make it sturdy... should i apply more plaster layers? Should it be inside the mask, or outside the mask? Is there a material i could apply to the mask so it feels solid? So far i'm not very pleased with the results, so any suggestions will be appreciated.
Best regards,
Fernando.
