Project: Steampunk Spidey.

So, it's the summer - what better time to start of a project?

I'm completely in love with Spider-Man and ever since seeing this:

I have wanted to create my own Steampunky Spiderman costume.

So this thread will contain my research and progress while creating this costume!

Feel free to stick around and help out, give suggestions ect, ect.

Bad ass. I would cover the hair though.
Something like an old style leather welders hat or a hand stitched coal/flour sack.

Digging it. I would have to agree on covering up the hair...IMO.

The leather welders hat is an awesome idea!

If I could incorporate the lens design of the first pair with the 3rd pair of goggles, that would look pretty amazing - I'm going to have to get drawing up some designs soon (:

I think the hardest part of this will be getting together all the brown leather elements. As there are various shades of brown leather out there. I may substitute it for black leather, which will give me much cleaner look and make it easier to source pieces for this costume.

I wouldn't worry about the different shades of leather, they don't even match in the drawing. It's supposed to look homemade Also I wouldn't use leather suspenders, use a more elastic material so you can contort like Spiderman without your pants riding too far up :P Good luck on this build!

There is also a kind of leather face mask.
I think they were used on steam trains.

Does anyone have any idea where to get some brown leather fabric (real or faux) in the UK at a decent price? I'm looking at getting a couple of square meters.

I found the pair both on ebay and amazon.

Moreover you have different colors available. Green, red, black and yellow/gold.

BTW: great idea! I also like the original sketch, but I'm looking forward to seeing the final result.

where in the UK are you?

Perhaps you could do some arm-pit webbing in gold metal with some hinges or gears on them?
