    Jul 26, 2012 - Possibly a stupid stormtrooper question........ #1

I am a 5 foot tall woman...... Would I look strange in a stormtrooper costume? I'm concerned I'm going to look out of proportion ..... Also if anyone can point me in the direction of some great quality stormtrooper gear I would be forever grateful. Thank you

EDIT: i dont HAVE to be a stormtrooper but it was my preference, any Star Wars bad guy will do. So suggestions as to alternative costumes will be appreciated too. Thanks

Wy dont you sign up on the forum of the 501st Legion? They know everythin there is to know about Star wars costumes

And as I was told by somebody in Nordic garrison, you may get the famous line, "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?", and if you cant handle it, being told every minute, you should maybe reconsider. Maybe biker scout or something else? And as it looks like you can choose something else, it wont be a problem.
This is just what a girl told me, as I myself want a stormtrooper suit, and I'm 5.4 foot tall.

Lol. I wouldn't mind people mentioning my height. Biker scout looks good. I have just signed up for the 501st forum, so I'll see what info I can get. Thanks for the replym

In my past dealings with the 501st UKG I've met a couple female stormtroopers but I think all of them were taller than 5ft. To be honest they usually accept people of all shapes and sizes so long as the costume itself is accurate.

As an alternative I'd suggest Boushh, Leia's Bounty Hunter costume. Great costume that not many have done and pefect for a woman your height.

hope you get more info there : )
I just mention this because the girl that got those comments, got them ALL the time, and ended up not using the stormtrooper outfit, and decided to go for the biker instead.
And she also got the Leia outfit, but it's a bit expencive, because ou all the leather. She got it hand sewn from one person, payd 1500$ I think.

Its a great point, because it may not annoy me at first but I think I would start to feel self conscious. I'm just worried about making the armour look foolish. All suggestions and advice are really appreciated

If you can get away from the idea of hard armor and helmets, I suggest a Nightsister. Don't see many of those.

I've got a friend of mine who's around the 5 foot mark who built a stormtrooper, and she can pull it off nicely.

One thing that really helped, I think, is that she sought out a smaller helmet - some of the TK helmets out there are very large, and lead to a bobble-head look.

I suggest visiting the forum of the 501st Stormtrooper Detachment.
This is their forum: First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment

The people there have lots of experience and also a very very good list of quality armor suppliers, armor specs and characteristics and how to contact the sellers. Its in this thread: The various types of armor and where to find them - Getting Started - Read this First! - First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment

    Hope this helps

    Tom
