Philly wizard world 2011 UPDATE w/photos PLEASE ADD TO THE PHOTOS IF YOU WERE THERE!!

ya know, I was just thinking about stuff like this....
I have never been to a DragonCON.
I have never been to a ComicCON.
I have never been to Wizard World in Chicago (suited up anyway)

I think Kentucky has an annual AdventureCON or sumthing like that...

I have Red Skull now and would LOVE to meet up with some of you folks and partake in all the glorious photo ops I see posted here at the RPF.

But dang...building/getting the costumes are one thing...then a grand on travel, another few hundred on hotel, then there is the fee to get into the event....

I imagine a lot of you dubb this a "vacation" and justify the expense.
Me, being married, two teenagers, mortgage, mountain of debt (who doesn't? LOL)....yea, not in the cards. My wife and daughter would have no interest in spending that much to wear a costume all day haha.

Is there an end-all-beat-all, nifty calander that shows events nationwide?
How to I find out that you might be three hours away for a big con?

Being in Decatur Illinois, Soy Bean Capitol of the World, has it's disadvantages. I have found no one in my town of 70,000 people who do what we do here at the RPF.

I'll be there - likely wearing the Tennant Suit. My kid may be Amy Pond.

lol i guess its better advertized along the east and west coast .. im only two hours from the philly comic con and the big apple comic con is like a fifteen minute drive it sucks to hear you cant make it , i know a lot of people will end up showing up but i am just not sure who besides a handful , i also do not wanna walk past anyone not recognizing them i would feel kinda bad ... it is def. not worth the expense if you are traveling from far to get to one of these ...not unless it was a vacation where you were doing other things too and this was just a part of it ... honestly besides some random museums ..possibly the camden aquarium and some restaurants and clubs i dont see the big fuss about philly ..so an expensive trip would be pretty crazy .. i can see saving up money to go to the san diego comic con and going exploring around that area before you go home .. there seems to be a lot going on over there , anyway i hope you enjoy your weekend regardless

Looks like I'll be there... probably bringing along plenty of jackets as well as I appear to be in with someone at a booth.
Will be sporting Wolverine as usual during the very few Cons a year I get out too.
I hear ya decaturvader, it's tough for me to get up to the three whole Cons a year I am making it to now, maybe even four this year since I was just able to fit Philly in last minute.
That being said I should be at Philly, then Dragon for most of it, then I will have a booth at NYCC, and of course will be at the hometown BaltimoreCon.

sweet see you guys there , i unfortunately can not wear my catwoman suit ... a scar on my face has been bleeding real awful the past week ..I MEAN AWFUL and i dont need a mask sticking to it so i will probably just wear my femme vader getup ... i think the blood all over my face should be a nice touch

I'll be hanging with Garrison Carida as usual. Young Boba Fett...and then Bellatrix LeStrange, and Mary McFly. Maybe my Necromonger dress if time allows. Its a real mixed bag this year for me.

Nice! Just putting the finishing touches on my old school Warrior's outfit from Battlestar Galactica. Keep an eye out for the guy that looks a lot like Starbuck. Hopefully I get a chance to say hi to you...

my god no and no those are my stupid teeth lol i look like a hyena ....and those are alrics real teeth too .. hyena vs. groundhog .... i think this photo makes them look a little worse because i was taking the photo as i was making that expression lol but yea i have some ugly teeth in my face ...and thanks for checkin out the photos! i am so mad i did not meet more people from here i mentioned on another philly con thread that one of the mods from here found me .. i heard someone saying error??? error?? is that you? and it was a guy with black hair holdin a little baby and his wife was next to him.. he was in a rush so i didnt catch his name lol if anyone knows who that is let me know!

lol i will pm it to you and it was some female officer when we were closer to philly i think she felt bad for ticketing us but was going through the motions since she pulled us over ...we were not doing any sort of driving violations it was like it was completely at random .... i love the way they always ask "do you know what you did wrong" and we kinda stared back .. puzzled ... covered in bizarre ..... ..then she pointed at the registration that apparently needs to be rectified and those extension stickers do not matter? hmm yep .. it was def weird

Had a wedding on Friday, so I only made it down for Sat. It was a good crowd, sadly I didnt take any pics but there are a few floating around of me as Jack Sparrow at WW

I was there Friday as the penguin, and my wife surprised me on sunday with tickets for fathers day so we spent Sunday at the con also! I had a great time ad now that I've seen some pictures I know I talked to a handful of rpf'ers. I've even got pictures with a few. I attached a pic of my costume. I couldn't manage the flippers and push a stroller, and since I wear glasses the monocle is out. I think in going to Baltimore at the end of summer, ate there any other local-ish events sooner?
