Pacific Rim Ranger Bomber Jacket

Man, I freaking love the Cherno Alpha pilot coats too. I never noticed her hair was braided on the side either. That might need to be a future project for me and my Husband after I finish GD's stuff.

You get a good look at the jacket worn by the male Lt. Kaidanovsky (Cherno pilot) as they enter the first cafeteria scene.

He has a handful of ribbons and medals pinned to the left breast, like a BAMF. It is always cold in Siberia...

So, got a sliiightly clearer screengrab from a featurette, and went into photoshop to try and figure out the pinup..Wild speculation in some parts, but it looks like she's in boots, undies and waist pouches and is hefting some sort of belt-fed gun..got some weird cutoffs though.

Forgive the sketching skills, was a quick exploration and I haven't drawn much in two years.

The more I look at it, the more I think the Foot? is a part of the gun.

Never mind. Excellent work. :)

ok, heres what we have, the back shoulder is indeed quilted as are the forearms, the back logo is a completely different beast though.

on the front there is the Gypsy Danger pin up on the left front under their name tags, the name tags have black lettering on them but i can't make it out, and on the right front there are 3 " kaiju kill logos "

Well done Mr.Spider!

The nametags look like fairly standard military flight jacket name tags. Taking a look at the way info is arranged on a flight jacket would help.

I'm sure anyplace a normal one says "U.S. Navy" you could just swap in P.P.D.C. etc.

The rest of the details look mostly painted on. At least now we have enough info to start working on the base jacket!

I suspect that in these images, the lapel of their jackets is covering a fourth Kaiju kill marker. I could be wrong but I thought Knifehead was number five.

So I decided to do the hard part today and paint the bulldog. It's not great but it's not terrible either for the first time painting fabric lol. I also sewed on the Pan Pacific Defense Corps patch onto the front.

Tomorrow I paint the Kaiju Kills!

You would be correct, the thing you have labeled foot is part of the gun or something, almost looks like a 4 pronged mech foot.. except on the end of the gun.. lol. Where the knee on the bent leg is, the foot would be somewhere just past the area you labeled "odd cut off". Like behind the others legs knee\calf. Which I don't think is really an odd cutt off, it may of just looked that way if you tried to skew it to a flat perspective. I wish I could find my Wacom pen.. I'd like to take a stab at sketching it

Again, not perfect but not terrible. Maybe I'll do some more touch up but I am still happy with it.

And I am finally done!

Bookmarking this thread for future use! I just got around to watching the movie last night, and I am going to make that Gipsy Danger jacket. Great work on the Bulldog!

Not sure if anyone is doing the Russian coats but as per the art book (which is awesome, by the way!): Aleksis and Sasha display the traditional symbol of Russia, the two-headed eagle, on their coats, but those eagles are not traditional embroidery. "A very talended girl in my department spent about two weeks safety-pinning these images of double-headed eagles onto their coats," says Hawley. "It was trying to sort of fuse the two languages of baroque and punk together."

No pic, though, unfortunately! :(

Subscribed, been thinking about a Jaeger Pilot wardrobe since the third time I saw the movie (yeah I like this one) nice and comfortable at a con too!

I've got two pre-dirstressed leather bomber style jackets on the way from a good friend, once they get here I'll see what I can modify! We've gotten so much good reference here now!

Oh, yeh, Murded, where did you get your PPDC patch?
