So where do I began? The Proton Pack was the second prop I ever attempted to build. I started the journey to this costume when I was 13, even now at 20 years old I’m still working on it. Through out the 7 years I’ve made changes, modifications, and a complete overhaul to the proton pack when I was 18, including the initial fabrication of the uniform it self. Before then I was rocking a pair of Dickies coveralls, lol.

I’ve probably spent a couple hundred on materials, resin pieces and other tidbits. I want to make it clear on the aspects I built myself, and the ones I did not.

What I built myself: The Proton Pack, and the uniform, to be more specific - I dyed the flight suit which took about a good month of trial and error till I got it the right color. Same goes for the elbow pads, dyed them myself.

What I did NOT build myself: The belt gizmo, the Life Guard, and the PKE Meter - which is the one Mattel sold awhile back.

The contest’s rules said people would like to know a little about my skill and experience as a costume builder and any tips I would like to give. Well I consider my self a beginner still; due to budget I haven’t had too many opportunities to actually build stuff. As for my advice? Have a first aid kit on hand, and don’t be surprised if you get blood on your project… lol. Further more one should have patience and not rush their project, I’ve learn this the hard way - refer back to when I mentioned I overhauled my proton pack. If I hadn’t rushed the build when I was 13 I probably wouldn’t have had to strip it down to bare bones and practically start over again.

I want to apologize for these in-progress pictures these were taken back when I had my old PC, they appeared larger on that older computer. Also I've lost all my original progress pictures, these are from the overhaul.

As for the finished product - I recently went out to an abandoned warehouse (I'm serious, it's was an actual abandoned storage place) to take some cool shots of me in costume.
