    Jun 11, 2012 - Non toxic Bondo? #1

    Hello,

Im new here and Im looking for a non-toxic alternative to bondo.
I ran across this and remeber hearing that the toxic part of bondo is actually the activator. So since this is UV sunlight activated I figured that it would be worth a shot posting it here. If this has already been posted, I apologize as i did a search and couldnt find anything.

Bondo UV Sun Activated Body Filler

So what's the verdict? Is this stuff safe to use without a biohazard suit lol?

The toxic part isn't so much the vapors (as long as you use it in a well ventilated area) but the dust that you breathe in when you sand and sculpt it. The UV activated stuff is just as nasty when you sand it, and I've never had it get as nice and hard as regular bondo when it cures.

Personally I've had no problems with Bondo.
However as The Ronin said, keep it well ventilated and wear a dust mask while you sand it.
