New guy / Iron Man PEP-WIP *pic heavy*
Ok I know I know, your all sick of seeing Ironman PEP's that are just the helmet and never further than the pep itself so i though i would troll for a bit get some work done then post this... now i am really open to comments, critiques, critizism(I am here to learn more and meet cool peeps) as well as of course praise and whatnots that make us feel good.. I have never attempted anything like this before, never worked with resin, never worked with bondo, so here is my start. o have some more pics as i have the R bicep, and gauntlet peped, the Left Thigh and Calf, the chest and the neck, more to come of course!
Thanks for looking Jason ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: New guy / Iron Man PEP-WIP *pic heavy*
congrats on your 1st build!!!!!
Now on to the critiques and praises......can you tell a little bit about what your intentions on the project are? Is it merely to build something, or is it to wear, etc.... I myself going through the same process as you as a 1st timer for everything cannot critique alot aside from perhaps I would have spent more time on the bondo /sanding process. I look forward to more images with your progress on the rest of your armor, the pepping looks fantastic. cheers |

Re: New guy / Iron Man PEP-WIP *pic heavy*
intentions are pretty much for something to do, i would love to use it for conventions when it gets finished, I am starting to get bored using my Army of Two: Elliott Salem. originally i started just wanting to make the helmet to use as a display, and well as so many other things they turn out into something so much more.

Re: New guy / Iron Man PEP-WIP *pic heavy*
i know i really need to work on my sanding and bondo, prolly shouldnt have starting with Ironman as my first ever project but i've never been one to not just go for it. I'm thinking i'll have my friend Airbrush in some damage / flight streaks to take away from the imperfections, we'll see still have a long way to go! thanks!

But I love the idea of covering up the imperfections by doing a battle damaged version !!!You should go at those areas with imperfections and that are not totally symmetrical or straight with a triangular file or a rasp, so that you not only have airbrushing, but also a texture and real damage. And you don´t necessarily need an airbrush but could use the drybrushing technique. Keep the work up ! |

Re: New guy / Iron Man PEP-WIP *pic heavy*
You've got the right idea, a little bit of damage works great. It hides imperfections and if you put a little silver around the edges, it looks more realistic and seems like there's really metal under the paint. People do it all the time with Master Chief armor, so much more believable. ^___^
Great work so far, looks like a dungbeetle helmet, right? |

Re: New guy / Iron Man PEP-WIP *pic heavy*
I believe there are several threads that hit on the lit eyes. Look into TMP's thread and a few of the other IM threads, I believe there are different ways (either LED, EL, blahblahblah). I don't recall which ones I'm afraid but there were several discussions on it.
cheers If you cannot find it on here there is a post about lit eyes on siwdat.com. |
