So I'm working with a local seamstress, who is helping me put together my ( Kaine ) scarlet spider dye sub costume and I am looking for any reference images and any other info to make sure it comes out as good as possible. During the sewing process I will post pics as well to help guide others in this situation later. Here is an image of the dye sub print we are starting with.

Awesome print. You got it done by Sonjou right? I got one done from him as well (Spectacular Spiderman cartoon version). One problem I'm having is sending the file (552MB tif file) to a dye sub company. I've tried using dropbox and a few other ways, but none seem to work. May I ask how you sent your file to get printed?
Yeah i got the print design from Sonjou, and have you tried fabric on demand yet. I know they ship world wide. That's where I printed mine and they are very helpful through email and over the phone.spideyman12004 said:

Thanks Carl I really appreciate it and yeah Nick has posted a lot of good info. I've ran across a few sewing instructions by him here and there but my hope is to mass consolidate that knoledge into this one thread.

The gap which is the neck area sew together, and here is how the feet should go together.

Only problem with that is finding someone willing to make the video most ppl. Wont show anything because they either sell them or just dont want to give info i had to do some serious research on some old forums that dated back when the first movie came out and got some info but its real hard to find now a days

All I know is my seamstress would never let me film her work. So don't look to me for the video...as much as I would love to the the information out there.

If I could sew stretch fabrics, I'd make the video myself, but my seamstress is very private. So I have to respect that.
I'm all about sharing information, (Hell, most of the current pattern makers started by tracing my pattern because I encouraged it) but she's not part of the costuming community, so don't take this out on her.
The other thing is that these patterns are extremely complex...they are really best sewn by a professional. Doesn't mean people shouldn't attempt it, just that your results may vary.

I called my seamstress today and she's going to try to take as many pics as she can of the whole process, from cutting to fitting and so on. I work to much to make a video but that was a good idea.
As a seamstress I am willing to share some info- I have lots of sewing experience and I am finding the dye sub suit assembly tricky!
I am not opposed to posting a video- once I have it figured out. I have another suit to put together in the coming weeks and I anticipate that one to be much easier. I'll see what I can do with a video.
I understand wanting to keep trade secrets, but there are so many of these suits out there. Also, I feel if beginner sewers have a chance to see the complexity in these suits they will be able to make a better formed decision whether they want to attempt to put it together or pass it to someone more seasoned. That would be my hope.
Until then I would love as much info as possible.
I think I will make a short video of sewing with stretch fabrics in general because I know many people find it intimidating in the beginning, but it is a great skill once you get the hang of it!
