    Jan 24, 2008 - Need help about silk-screen, print or embroidery... #1

Like the title says, I need help, more precisely I have to find/do a (relatively) cheap, but damn good-looking way to print/silkscreen/embroider a black pattern into a "ribbon" of white fabric...

Now, I know I could use heat transfer paper or fabric colors and a stencil, but I want to achieve a more "professional" look... So, there is anyone interested in help me out?

If someone of the talented shirt-maker guys here, have some "spare-time" and want to help a fellow RPFer... I could also make illustrator files for your projects (this way I could ask for small discount...)

I need this for a costume I'm planning to do, and I'm not in a hurry, so if someone want to give me an input or an hand in making this thing, feel free to post here or drop me a line via PM

And before you point me in the direction of those silkscreen kits, I can tell you that I haven't found anything like that here in Italy, and the ones on eBay won't pass our customs (chemical products rarely do)...

Also, if someone here do embroidery, I could be very interested as well

    Thanks in advance!

Might have some suggestions, but can you be more specific on the ribbon

    of fabric.

    Width, Length

    Nylon, Polyester, Cotton

Length of pattern + need for repeating.

Approx length of the ribbon: 180cm
    Approx width: 4-5cm
Approx size of the pattern: 3cm x 17cm

    Fabrics: cotton, canvas or linen

Approx repeats of the pattern: 10 times

    I hope this helps

    Two words: Contact Paper, Ink.
    Here's what I'm talking about: http://taeliac.deviantart.com/art/Fa...orial-55149185
It's an excellent silk screening cheat.

I just did some USCM printed patches in Taiwan, and

the quality is perfect and durable.

I can ask how long there printer can do.

The material they use is a smooth white nylon.

The problem is finding a service bureau willing to help you out.

Screen printing won't last if you have to wash it.

Interesting... Would you mind to share some pics (even via PM if you prefer...)

Nylon could be fine too... Also I've said 180cm but in fact I need two ribbons each long 70cm (I was just planning to cut a longer ribbon).

If you could ask it would be nice
And let me know which format they need (and if they let you know, the possible cost of it)

    Thank you very much!

Thank you too Hydra for the suggestion, that tut could be useful too!

Vendor can print 140 cm long.

Now I'd say, how would you like the edge treatment?

    Folded, Binding, Overlock, etc...

It would probably be easier if you finished the edges unless it was overlocked.
