    Jun 16, 2012 - My Snake Eyes Experience #1

Since I am a practioner of traditonal Japanese martial arts and a costumer, it seemed only proper that I do a project that embodied both aspects, in this case, Snake Eyes.

I stuck with the more classic, tactical version for mine for the past three years doing requests ranging from Joe gropus to visiting karate schools. Here is a detail of my version...

Here with Jason Sobol, comic artist and huge Snake Eyes fan. Check out the signed piece I got from him...

Here with a young fan this year as he got to meet his hero in "real" life...

With Ray Park, who plays Snake Eyes in the new G.I. Joe movies...

With the G.I. Joe group at Starfest Denver 2012...

Graphic art of my costume by Fantascenes...

And as a "Thank You" to anyone who actually looked at this thread, here is a sneak peek at my new version from GI Joe: Retaliation. Done in two weeks and for less than $150, this costume will be debuted this weekend at the Denver Comic Con...

Not quite 100%, but the best I could do in a short period. Watch for updates on how I built this one and for more photos in action from the convention.

    Thanks for looking.

Like the costume. The hardest part is not saying anything in character.

Absolutely correct! But it is also fun to hear the true fans reactions when you don't say anything, and I have even been thanked for NOT saying anything to not blow there impression of Snake Eyes. But it does make the media mad that you won't answer any questions...

Hear are some sneak peek photos as they come in for the new costume...

With artist Eroll See, who had one of the few comic artworks of Snake Eyes... making out with Elektra...

Checking out the new Snake Eyes sculpture from Sideshow Collectibles...

Watch for more photos coming soon from professional photographers and media.

    Thanks for looking.

Thanks, everyone! As promised, I will keep posting as more of the the professional photography comes in.

Here is one from WeNeals Photography and Retouching. Unfortunately, this is after several photo ops and someone ripped off one of my stripes on my Arashikage logo, but still a cool picture of the costume...

    More to come...

Very cool! I did a version of snake eyes myself a few years ago, for running around conventions and a stunt show we did here in Tampa. I mixed the old school design with some custom personal touches. Ray Park said he loved my suit and wanted to have it, lol... and that was before he auditioned for the part in the first film, lol.

Great job with what you have here, looks awesome.

Oh, and yes, it's a lot of fun to run around and not say a word, but figure out how to communicate with out talking.

Not to hi-jack your thread, but here are some pics of mine.

And some more picts from the first ever Denver Comic Con...

With some of the other Joes...

The on-the-spot sketch done by Eroll See of Snake Eyes (inset is him drawing it)...

    With the Baroness...

And with artist Robert A. Krauss, who provided me with a signed print of his interpretation of Snake Eyes...

Like always, there is some more work to do after the first-time run. Making some tweeks to the logo and may spend some time to create, or obtain, a helmet before the actual opening of G.I. Joe: Retaliation next year.

    Thanks.

Since we haven't received an actual answer yet, I'm going to post my best guess on what he used...

Looks to me like he might have bought one of the Retaliation Snake-Eyes masks, removed the visor from it, and then attached a headband to the back to hold it in place. This is simply my best guess going by the photos in this thread.

And let me state this on the record... I am officially jealous of the Original Poster and the OTHER RPF Snake-Eyes that's turned up in this thread. I've always wanted to put together a Snake-Eyes costume, but I'm not physically fit enough to be able to pull it off.

Chris Fields, I love that falchion! Very similar to the one that came with the Version 2 Snake-Eyes action figure back in the day! Where did you manage to find one?

I saw this pic on Twitter. Based on your other pic with Bazooka and Zartan, I'm assuming this also is you.

Thanks, I make blades, and I custom designed this one, though I ended up sending the design to my good friend Matt at Baltimore Knife and Sword and he was able to turn this one around faster than I could, so I let him do it due to my time crunch for the stunt show it was for.

I was going to post a breakdown thread to show how I did this. You are correct about the visor. Utilized the Retaliation mask, but made modifications since the costume mask is clear and attached to a child's mask. You also notice the mask has been modified to remove the lips and create a trim jawline, which is apparent when you just use a black ski mask. The visor can actually be used without the headband in the back, but I was trying to make the back of the head look more like the profile of the helmet frim the movie. Based on the pictures, and some of the artwork at the convention, one modification will be the removal of the headband from the back since you do not see it in many of the pictures anyway.
