Nov 24, 2007 - My new Superman the Movie costume display! #1

    Hi everyone,

After many attempts at this display, I finally found a mannequin which is VERY close to Chris Reeve's build and proportions. It makes all the difference when you can display the costume on a correctly sized body.

I've got to figure out the best way of attaching the Chris Reeve head sculpt onto there, but for now - it's cool to just display the costume like this.

I just need to rub down the nipples a bit so they're not so prominent!

    Here's the pic:

Thanks for all your comments guys!
Here's a link to the website which sells this mannequin:

It's expensive but believe me, getting a custom made mannequin or body casting would be WAY more expensive than this.

    Cheers,

Very nice Chris! It looks great. You were right about the mannequin, it does that costume justice. I'm looking forward to the final look with the head attached.

yes i've seen. almost bought it from the sculptor. thing is, it may not go well with the mannequin. the mannequin have a slight head turn, the bust looks to the front. i love the way it is now. simple, yet effective.

    That's true.

However, you can trim the bust to fit the mannequin, right? And if you're good enough you can make it seamless.

I agree that the setup now is pretty classy. It may lose some of that effect with the addition of the head or it may make it even more classy.

I'm definitely looking forward to what will be done with this.

Expensive is right. Nice mannequins, though. However, I think the only thing that will wearing my Reeve is me

That is Awesome! I'd love to have one on display in my house, I'm a Big Christopher Reeve Superman Fan, that Mannequin is perfect for Reeve's Build!

Did you do the Costume or have it custom made?

(I recall you showing it earlier, I don't recall if you had it made or not...)

    Thanks again guys!

Propsculptor - the costume was custom made after LOTS of research.
I should say a BIG thanks to my friend - GELForever. He inspired me to do this costume in the first place and his help / critique of the works in progress have made it what it is today. Cheers Mart!

Always a pleasure to assist with what is, IMHO, the most accurate of STM costumes in existance - other than screen weathering or age, I defy anybody to distinguish it from the real thing.
Its refreshing to spend time with a guy who is such a like-minded perfectionist that pursues the answers until the ultimate artifact is reached - just check out his Star Wars pieces for proof of that!!

There is only one thing that distracts me whenever I see this and that is the torso of the mannequin. I don't know how to really explain it, but it has that exaggerated sculpted feel to the ribs, chest and ab-section. Chris Reeve always had these soft, but buffed features.

I don't know if any can or will be done about it, but that is the only thing that bothers me with the mannequin.

The rest is great and the suit is absolutely superb (no pun intended).

Seriously, that's a piece I would love to have in my sitting room and I don't collect costumes.
