My little Brother IS Master Chief! - Halo 4 Commercial

I'm so excited to finally be able to share this.
My brother was contracted by 343 to build a new Halo 4 Master Chief suit for E3 and to be featured in the new Halo 4 commercial. The best part is that while on shoot, his dream came true and they asked HIM to wear the suit for the commercial. This same suit was also on 'living display' for a photo opp throughout E3.

So it's official, the very first time Master Chief has ever been seen on film in Live Action and it's my brother who made and wore the suit!

There's an insanely awesome story that goes with this on how he ended up getting to play Master Chief, but I need to clear it with him first before sharing here.

Oh I was there at E3 and took some pix of the suit. IT WAS TALL! Very nice job I enjoyed taking pix of it and the new Warthog. Congrats!

That is the second game I can think of off hand (I am sure there are more) that has used a live action trailer. I think we are going to see more of these for awhile.

Suit looks awesome, your brother did a great job.

Thanks Guys... It was tough little project. We did a full suit and had a 1.5 days of shooting. Wish the commercial would have shown a bit more of the work, but that's Hollywood for you. Suspense is everything.

We had 6 weeks to complete the full suit. We did one for 343 for halofest last summer. But they literally changed every inch of the suit since then. So we had to start all over. But I think we nailed it the second time around for sure.

It has a crazy amount of detail.. The twitter pics don't really do it any justice. Hex pattern tech suit. There is even a hexagon pattern in the custom visor.

May I ask how you did the undersuit? It seems to be a part of every new Halo 4 armor and can't just simply be replaced by black leotards...

Here is a good shot of the Hex pattern in the custom visor. Sorry for the bad picture.. It was taken with a phone.

The visor was vac formed in PETG then chromed mirror gold. The hex shows up because its more opaque.

Well you can definatly tell they "visually enchanced" it.

Yeah in the commercial they had to use cgi over the visor. Otherwise you would see camera cranes and people on set in the visor instead of a huge crashing ship.

All in all I'm pretty proud of how well this visor came out. Its step up from motorcycle visors. That's for sure.

That does not look like all they CGI enchanced. I see very little weathering on the helmet in the first post, but a lot on that photo. The colors look a lighter shade as well. Either way this is still a very impressive suit.

I wish they didn't have to CGI enhance the visor. As you said, the reflections were an issue.
It was difficult to tell whether it was a real costume or the whole suit was fully CGI.

I know the suit exists, it was just hard to really appreciate the work from that commerical.

I hope you guys film some regular vids of you wearing the suit in normal footage.
