How can I get theese.they look awesome.. Helpers look good too..lol
PN74, congrats on th' new job an maybe some plastic modelers putty will clean up those ugly seams tamiya makes a good one light weight too very sandable after hardening. love your ferets they make geat pets have they been descented? Keep up th' good work.![]()
Thanks, everything went great today, I'm going on Friday morning to finalized everything, I hope I can get to start on Monday...
Thanks for the recommendation; I will look into get me some of that putty; Oh my ferrets are great, They are the coolest thing, they like to play a lot, there are some misconceptions about ferrets thou...They only stink if you don't clean them, I change the litter everyday...If you cut their nail and keep them nice they will not cause any damage, they are supper affective, the brown on (Punky) is the female and she loves to jump in the couch and lay on my chest when I'm taking a nap....they are de-scented and I give them some drops that kills the ammonia...
So my little helper is taking a nap;
My greatest creation by far....
Time for me to use the chemicals! I'm hardening the torso which I'm going to do it in 4 quadrants so it does not get warp; so first is the front left side and the back right side so it counterbalance I will post a link later cause I don't remember where I found the tutorial....
So i was browsing around here And I just found one of the best tutorials around, alongside with Stealth's, the mastermind behind the tuts is Cereal Kill3r, Link below, I subscribed it to his tutorials and boy if he goes into details, he explain everything step by step, tricks, how to mix Rondo (Resin+Bondo); I think Rondo is what I'm going to use to finish my armor, he does not use fiber glass on the torso he is making and the piece is super strong, also gave me the best idea in how to separate my torso with magnets...just awesome, take few minutes and check his work, and do not skip anything cause you are going to miss a lot of good stuff...
So Big Shout out to Cereal Kill3r for the videos....Here is the link...

Update:
So after I put together one of my arm guns, I was tinkering and looking for a good way to clean up the edges of the vacuum formed pieces (this is if you don have the tools to do so). So here is what I did, since surface is flat all around the gun, I took a ruler and a fine point sharpie and trace a line really close to the edge, that way I won't cut too much...
So with my hobby knife and going super slow, I cut the edge little by little and staying right by the line I made, so the cleaned edge looks like this:
Then glued both pieces together and here is how the seams look know, I whish I can get me another gun to replace the first one...
Tomorrow the torso....

Wow noob! Great job, I really didn't need any instructions for you! Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see what you do with the mini gun arm! thanks for the shout out by the way, maybe I'll get that interest thread up faster, as in right here!just kidding, wouldn't want to hi-jack an awesome build like this.
I just love your build man!!!
Thank you man! thanks for the files, I did spent a lot of time combining some of the pieces and switching some of the flats around to make them easier for me to glue...Feel free to give me some ideas or if you see something I should change... Unlike some others I do appreciate constructive criticism....
So quick update; I have to work harder this week to finish as much as I can, I have two recruiters fighting for me and I have a ton of interviews this week and I hope next Monday is my first day at work on whichever is the best for me....
So more updates, today I got to finally work on the chest/back, so the first thing I did was remove the Arc reactor that way is easier to work with later...
Then I wanted to do some strengthening on some of the edges also some of the inside so went I put some resin it would not warp...
And finally some hardening...so I following Cereal Kill3r's way...first the left half of the chest and the right side of the back, that way the piece do not warp so bad, plus I got to work better and cover the piece the right way, no rush plus having one side dried is easier to handle...
Also made a magic wand for my daughter...

Looking awesome! The timely pics actually helped me on the chest pieces! Thank you again! That little piece on each bottom side of the unibeam assemble was giving me a fit LOL!
Your pic showed me the way!
Glad you ended up with a bidding war for your services! I hope that they know what a great person they are getting!!!
Have a great night my friend!

Thank you bro; Know I am going to work on finishing all the hardening all the parts I have, hopefully I have good news sometimes this week, the one job I really want is to work for the Caterpillar company, yep! the big truck manufacturer!!!
Update time; my wife gave me the best present ever, a ton of material to keep building my suit, also she wants to give me a hand doing some of the work because she is interested on learning casting and some other stuff; here is what I got:

So happy you can keep going!! I am eagerly looking forward to more posts!!
Unbelievably amazing! Tell me you're employed somewhere doing this for $$.
================================================== =====
Wait until you see the rondo work, Man!!! those are some sensitive chemicals one drop of hardeners too much and you end up with a steaming hot glass of rondo,if you can buy one of those food scales at target. Also found a bunch of goodies on my old tool box that I can use...
One another hand; if you use Bondo for your build, you can use this plastic mat where you can mix the bondo instead of a piece of carboard, here is a picture:
It cost $3.00 in walmart or autozone.
Since I couldn't find one I used a plastic cutting mat I found at Target $ 5.99 for 6 pcs. different sizes

So I finish doing the first layer of rondo on the my war machine torso, wow the fumes of the chemicals are no joke, I was working near a window and my daughter opened it just or lit 2 seconds and the fumes when in the entire apartment, I divided the torso into back and chest, but messed up in a couple places, I don't know if I will just fix it or redo the torso again...know I will do another coat to make it harder, boy is hard as it is...
I only regret that I didn't buy the bondo with the fiber glass in it, it would have been so much better...anyways here is part of the work done, I will post more pictures tomorrow....
I think I will just finish the whole back and chest before I move to the next piece, I'm also thinking on maybe making a mold and use smooth cast 300 to make them light...don't know yet...
Great progress...were is it that you messed up on? There's is bongo with fiber glass that has short strands n long strands but its xpensive....
Good morning! Man have you been busy! Get ready, I haven't even had my coffee and ran to look to see if you posted!!! This is such a rush seeing your post!!! You better get your coffee on to read my post!
I hope you dont mind that I have like a bazzillion questions!
That looks like it came out so good! I dont see a mistake?
Is the problem the alignment after you cut it apart and did the rondo?
How much does it weigh? It looks pretty heavy even though i know you are only using a couple of oz at a time?
How is the flexibility? Is it still really flexible or did it get rigid? You said you wish that you had used the fibered Bondo. do you think a coat of fibered then a coat of regular would be best?
Did you use Cerealkillers mixing ratios? You had said it went off quick and hot in a previous post with only slightly extra hardener?
I really like the way it looks! I was thinking fiberglass cloth and then the rhondo? I do imagine glassing the inside with all those conture would be a chore...but i quess that one is my "What would you do different question!?"
I am having a slow time building the chest /back because it is so flexible and I dont want to damage the seams and razor sharp edges. Do you think a PVC box shaped frame around the outside would be of use during the rondo? It would hold the shape and give you something to grip onto, it is so slippery! I have dropped the whole thing 3 or 4 times as it slid out of my hands and off the table!
So, lightning round! LOL!
Did you cut it apart pre-rhondo or after?
It looks awesome, I love the smoothness,, especially the flat chest plates!but I imagine pooling was a nightmare to fight! How did you combat that and did you have to rush like hell?
I was thinking that for the next coat, if you went really small batches and did the R side, waited did the left side ect that might help it stick to the sides?
Wow! Sorry! I wish I could have been there to watch! Never mind any building today LOL you will have to spend all your time answering these questions!![]()
Imagine how many questions I had when I was a kid!
I am eagerly watching for more of your posts and hope like heck you dont have to do a new chest/back piece.
M
Hahahahahha not a problem at all man, I'm actually rebuilding my back and chest because by me not thinking straight, here are the answers and some suggestions at the same time...Keep asking me because some of my mistakes would have been avoided if I had the same questions as you....if that makes any sense....
Why this damn site keeps kicking me out, If I'm writing something it times out, I'm always have to be copying and pasting...![]()
So as my update says mega failure, I made some huge mistakes here are my notes:
-I'm going to use the fiberglass resin instead of epoxamite, the epoxamite is too brittle for my taste.
-I'm Separating the chest and back after hardening the outside.
-I'm choosing another part on the torso where to separate them..
-I'm taking even more time to make it right.
As a reminder of my stupidity, I introduce, My FAILURE!!!!
