Good morning! Man have you been busy! Get ready, I haven't even had my coffee and ran to look to see if you posted!!! This is such a rush seeing your post!!! You better get your coffee on to read my post! :lol
Answer: 3 cups already and 4 Advil tension headache pills, wife said didn't need the coffee since advil has caffeine
I hope you dont mind that I have like a bazzillion questions!:cry
Keep them coming, others get bother, not me sometimes you need an extra set of eyes...
That looks like it came out so good! I dont see a mistake? Is the problem the alignment after you cut it apart and did the rondo?
Answer: Weeeeeell; first mistake putting rondo in the whole piece instead of separating them before I was trying to keep them together so they don't warp...
Solution: Just harden the outside, them build some reinforcement on them, the cut it and rondo the crap out of it!!
How much does it weigh? It looks pretty heavy even though i know you are only using a couple of oz at a time?
Answer: I think it weights around 6-7 lbs, the only problem is the flaps on the edges will bother a little..
Solution: Go lighter on the resin outside (I did it too thick and it crack easy, Also I the resin I used is not what I want, so I'm going to be using the fiberglass resin this time, then do 2 coats of light rondo this time I will ad some fiberglass in between, just on the point I think the torso would have more stress.
How is the flexibility? Is it still really flexible or did it get rigid? You said you wish that you had used the fibered Bondo. do you think a coat of fibered then a coat of regular would be best?:confused
Answer: Use the bondo with fiber glass in it, see I just figure out I don't need the fiber glass at all, I will save the bondo I have for the outside and go and get me some with fiberglass..and this stuff is hard as rock man, that's why I'm concerned on the warping..
Did you use Cerealkillers mixing ratios? You had said it went off quick and hot in a previous post with only slightly extra hardener?
Answer:I used his proportions but by eye'ing it, this time I'm using the scale 50/50 on the first coat and if necessary then 70/30, 30 being the resin...and it gets hot anyways is the whole chemical reaction, you get around 10-15 minutes of work so small batches is better
I really like the way it looks! I was thinking fiberglass cloth and then the rhondo? I do imagine glassing the inside with all those conture would be a chore...but i quess that one is my "What would you do different question!?":lol
Answer: If we use the bondo with fiberglass in it I believe we can skip the whole fiberglass stage.
I am having a slow time building the chest /back because it is so flexible and I dont want to damage the seams and razor sharp edges. Do you think a PVC box shaped frame around the outside would be of use during the rondo? It would hold the shape and give you something to grip onto, it is so slippery! I have dropped the whole thing 3 or 4 times as it slid out of my hands and off the table! :$
Answer: I'm guilty of that too, that's a great idea, the other thing is to work in stages, also if we cut the two pieces I think the box would help to keep the from along with some support...(thanks for the idea).
So, lightning round! LOL!
Did you cut it apart pre-rhondo or after?
Answer: no, and that was my biggest mistake!!!
It looks awesome, I love the smoothness,, especially the flat chest plates!but I imagine pooling was a nightmare to fight! How did you combat that and did you have to rush like hell?
Answer: in the new one I'm reinforcing some of those with little wooden sticks, I will post the picture of what I'm using....
I was thinking that for the next coat, if you went really small batches and did the R side, waited did the left side ect that might help it stick to the sides?
Answer: I yet have to see how I'm going to tackle that, but with this question I think I may figure it out before hand...See those questions help me too...keep them coming, I'm taking notes...
Wow! Sorry! I wish I could have been there to watch! Never mind any building today LOL you will have to spend all your time answering these questions! :eek
Dude I was jut telling my wife, I told her it would be so helpful to have a helping hand there, so guess what she is doing now?! she printed the new torso and is helping me cut and she is learning the whole thing...She wants to make the new Iron Man MKVIII and painted her own way...some pink involved ayayayay!!!!
Imagine how many questions I had when I was a kid!:behave
Are we related, I ask questions like crazy, then again that's part of my profession, you need to be supper detail and ask a bazillion questions...
I am eagerly watching for more of your posts and hope like heck you dont have to do a new chest/back piece.
Tooo late!!!!:facepalm
