After a couple of months of work (and thanks to some help from people here and at BOTB) my suit was complete just (barely) in time for Halloween. Here's a quick snapshot:

(Yes, the cape is too short, but it's practical&#33

I'm planning a couple of projects for it... more on that later.

Cool stuff man! I'd like to learn more about your cowl, belt and boots. The belt seems to be full-size, which makes me think it's fanmade rather than the Rubies version.

    Holy cow, batman... it's...well, batman!

This one actually looks like the one from 'Begins' compared to others of it's kind...
    Great work!

I was thinking the exact same thing. This is one of the first Begins suits I've seen that I think truly represents the look of the movie costume.

Very nice work. And yes, more details and pictures!

Yeah, you definitely fit the begins look and your suit is amazing. I thought for a second you had a Christian Bale bust or something in the mask, because you REALLY have the same facial expression as him. Good job on the suit

    Hey, thanks guys!

I did actually spend some time studying Bale's expression. I think the look that really represents the new take on the Bat is in the alley when he growls "Do I look like a COP!?", so that is kinda the mindset I try to have when wearing it.

The armor was made by someone at the Brotherhood of the Bat forum, the belt was a full-size kit, the boots are Motorcowboy and the cape was scratch-made from non-stretch cotton velvet. (Batnemo's cape pattern was used as a base and then heavily modified.) The cowl underwent some mods to make it fit properly and I think that is where much of a costumes believability comes from- it has too look like it was made for you and isn't a "one size fits all". The armor was glued to a lycra dive skin, then sprayed with liquid latex and plastidip to make it seamless. From the very start I did want to try to get it as perfect as possible, but it's still a little rough in some places. (I really should convert it into a screen-accurate two-piece because the crotch-area of the dive skin is too stretched out at the moment in certain poses.) I chose between a Begins and a Returns style suit, but I decided that the former would work better with my build.

I'm looking into doing a "professional" photoshoot (my best friend is a Photographer by trade) and possibly a short film so that the suit doesn't just collect dust on a mannequin. I've made quite a few films (and I work with film stuff in video games), but never a fan-film because I'm usually not too keen on using other people's IP. But in this case there are some ideas I'd like to try that would fit the Bat-mythos pretty well, so we'll see.

    Here's another snapshot:

That's a good point. I've seen many really great batsuits 'killed' by the fact that they're either way too loose or tight for the wearer. Your work on the cowl seems to have paid off! It looks like it fits like a glove!

Any details on the gloves and gauntlets?

The cowl was actually made for a 24-25" head... and I'm a 22"! I had to pad out the back with foam and add about 1/2 inch of latex to the chin to make it snug. Adding the chin section and making it seamless was probably the hardest part of the whole suit.

Gauntlets are from the same guy as the armor... they're good for photos, films or parties but a little "rough" since they're made out of latex too. Been thinking of getting (or making) some in fibreglass. (Oh and just so you know, I've got the gauntlets switched around in the pics.)

The gloves are O'neill 3mm SLX wetsuit gloves- the 2005 version. This years glove has red squares in the palm and doesn't have the "swirly pattern" that is fairly close to the screen glove. I had to scour surf shops on the net for hours before I finally located a pair in the UK!

This one of the best "begins" suits I've seen! Excellent work. I've had my reservations in the past. I'd love to see this suit in pre-black paint stage in the movie...Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

Nicely Done, fooled my wife into thinkin' that was Christian Bale, not that that's any kind of test, heheh. Best one I've seen though.

I dont think id ever take the suit off. I think Id have to become a crimefighter. I think you should contact warner bros.(or christian bale's agent) and see if there could be any public appearance work for you.

First, I REALLY though: "Hmm, did he just took a Bale photo in it?" (Sorry for that )
Then when I saw the second pic, I saw that's really not Bale, but YOU.

    WOW!! You did it, BATMAN
