MrCosmo's Chewbacca Build (pic heavy)

I have decided to begin working on Chewbacca.

Here is a picture of some of the hair. I ordered from ikickshins and texas beauty supply based on availability.



Here are my skywalker stilts ordered through amazon



I'm about 7'2" with the stilts. I have chosen to build the feet after I have tackled some of the latch hooking.


Mesh was ordered from Collins Cottage and I had a local tailer make the suit.



Here is a picture of the top with my first row of hair.



I learned a lot from my first experience with latch hooking. I wasted a lot of hair because it got tangled in the hackle. I re-watched the hackle video and the second batch was better.



The best advice was on the hackle video after he finished blending the hair. (The first time I watched the video I stopped after the blending) He placed the hair between the two drawing cards and pulled out a few strands at a time. Using this technique I am now able to work with the hair without it getting tangled.




More progress on hair. It takes a while.

A few things I have learned: Blending hair with a small bunch instead of a whole package is much easier and I don't waste hair.



I have a small dish of water to keep the hair a little moist while latch hooking. It keeps the strands together.

Seems like you're off to a great start! I can't wait to see further progress. It looks as though you've spared no expense.
