Mini Avengers WIP - 1st Pep

Hello masters. I am a newbie. I have been working on and off on my kids' Mini Avengers costumes for several months. It started with the Loki and Hawkeye suits for the Avengers premiere, then expanded to include Black Widow and Captain America for Phoenix Comicon. Those last 2 were very short notice and suffered for it.


So now, I am trying to get ahead of the game for Halloween. My roster is chaning up a bit, as Captain America will inhereit Hawkeye's vest and Hawkeye will become Iron Man. I am indebted to Indiefilmgeek for his amazing tutorials and pms, he's a class act.

So, onto the new stuff. I am attempting pepakura for the first time with my Loki helmet and Iron Man suit. I've finished the Loki pep, and applied the first outer resin layer.


QUESTION: Should I put something inside the horns before I fiberglass the inside of the helmet. Right now they are hollow. I don't want it to be too heavy, but I also don't want it to be too fragile. Any suggestions?

I've already made 2 Iron Man helms that ended up too small, so I took a break and moved on to Loki. Luckily that one fit first time. I was getting discouraged.

Anyway, I"m so glad I found this forum and have talented people to bounce ideas off of. Oh, and thanks to Stealth for the amazing Youtube tutorials, I watched a bunch of those too. They are very helpful. Glad to be part of the forums.

Yes, we will be there this year too. My husband will be Hellboy, my son will be Kroenen and I am going as Sgt. Calhoun from Wreck it Ralph. My daughter is going with friends who will be Bilbo, Bofur and she will be Smaug/Sherlock on one day and Bunnymund on the other day.

These are awesome! Would love to see some better shots of the tiny Iron Man.

Dude. What? We should coordinate which day the hobbits will all be there for a family reunion pic!!! I was thinking Sunday because the kids will be volunteering in the AZ Avengers booth on Saturday. Let me know and we can work something out. Love Hellboy and Wreck It Ralph. You guys rule!

Thanks! The mini Iron Man suit is craft foam covered in Smooth On 300. It is hooked together with a ton of nylon straps and velcro. The helmet is traditional pep: cardstock, resin and bondo. I found the files here and followed the amazing tutorials from Stealth and Indiefilmgeek. Here's a few other shots of the suit. You can see how I attached the helmet together with straps (the faceplate attaches with magenets).

Sunday should work for them. I'll have my daughter talk to her friends to make sure they all do Hobbit characters Sunday. I'll swing by the AZ Avengers desk on Saturday to finalize. So excited to see what you have done this year.
