Has anyone tried this guy's method of making the female chest piece?
Fem-Shep Chest Plate Molding
Ok maybe i'm retarded or something but there HAS GOT to be an easier way to make this stuff... I went on to Pepakura with a template someone had sent me and printed the crap out and cut it all up and put it together.. it looks like CRAP! So how did he make it look so good in his pictures?I'm not doing something right... this is insane.
AH HA I made my own chest plate without pepakura.... will send you picture later
Hey all!
Totally new here, but I'm doing a Tali costume for Dragon*Con. I have all the fabric components done, I'm doing the Mass Effect 1 version, but I'm having trouble finding a suitable clear visor base for the helmet. Can you throw me some suggestions?
Thanks so much!
Ah, the visor. It was a challange for me. I first tried purple plexiglass. This proved hard to reshape with heat. That was bad because the color was perfect. I did managed to heat it and reshape it, but it proved too britle and the shape was not perfect. Then my plan B was to use the correct vacuform clear plastic. It was easy to shape (using the stove oven and a home made vacuform box per youtube). Then I use dye to make it look purple. It did some of the job but I decided to spray it very lightly with the Tamiya model transparent purple paint. Lot of work but was happy with the result. Have to admit though, seeing through it is marginal but effective.
Latest update with Tali. I finishd the belts. They just need adjusting with the person that will be using the costume.
Your Tali costume is great, one of the best ones I have seen, if not the best! The helmet is amazing, did you use pepakura for the helmet? If so, do you still have access to the files? I have been looking everywhere and I have been unable to find them, just found a whole bunch of dead links
If you could help me out that would be great![]()
HI. thank you for your kind words. Yes, I am sure I can find the pepakura files. I ended making 4 helmets; first two way too small, third one too big, then the fourth one was ok. The helmet is very easy to make in pepakura. The challenge was the visor. The visor was hard for me. I will try to email you the file you want.
