Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Armor Builds
M8 Rifles are almost complete now. Only going to do a little more detail paint work on these, then seal them and call 'em finished. I've spent all the time I can afford on the guns and need to move back to completing the costumes.

Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Armor Builds
This is above impressive, well done sir. It is giving me ideas on how to start and complete a Crimson Lance costume.
Doubly impressed that you were able to work on this after the tree fell into your bedroom. It sucks when things like this happen to our homes but glad no one was hurt. We are all rooting for you! Please post pictures of the costume and guns from Dragoncon, everything just looks stellar! |

Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Armor Builds
WOW. I gotta say EvilFX, your method has really caught on. Since your thread I've seen 2 others duplicating your awesome armor build. I know this foam building technique has been around for a while, but I think your build has really sparked an interest for a lot of people. Looks like there's gonna be a bunch of ME2 Shepards out there...which is funny cause prior to your build I didn't much ME2 at all. Can't wait to see the suits fully assembled and worn. Looks great!

Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Armor Builds
hey guys! new here. Been following this thread and bioweapons.blogspot and it's really inspired me to give this a shot.
I bought the materials I needed and have started fooling around with techniques. I haven't quite got the forming of the foam to work out great yet. What methods are you all using? I used a heat gun at 1000 degrees, but I wasn't sure how long to heat the foam for. Also, how long do you need to hold it in place before it takes shape? And lastly, how in the world are you getting those nice, crisp edges? Are you scoring the underside at all? Thanks guys for any input! I really appreciate it! |

Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Armor Builds
Great build so far. like everyone else, I find the EVA foam to be an intriguing material - hope to use it sometime.
A big thank you for the closeup photos of your webbing and clips! More of those would be excellent. |

Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Armor Builds
Not much time for progress updates currently, just too busy trying to finish things. Only a few days left before Dragon Con. I got most of the female painted last night in a marathon session. Sadly my airbrush compressor burned up at 4 in the morning,.. bound to happen when you run them for 6 hours strait. If I cant fix it then it's back to "Bone Knives and Bearskins" (brushed paint jobs)
Hoping to get the female 100% tonight and then start to figure out and tape off the male for paint. Mostly painted before the compressor died. Still have to add the gloss coat.

Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Armor Builds
wow, that paint looks great. this gets better and better each time I see it!
can you share any tips on painting the foam? do you take any precautions to prevent cracking? is the foam sealed beforehand? |

Re: Mass Effect 2 N7 Armor Builds
What type of paint are you using, and did you need to prime the foam at all to get it to settle/adhere right?
