Magneto Helmet X-men First Class

I watched the again the other night, the bottom edges of the helmet actually 'do' flare out ever-so-slightly, so it's not a straight edge down. Had read that some might've thought it was just the way the light was catching on it but the later scenes in the reactor room and the beach scene,

can clearly see the edges kind of fan outwards a little.

I'm guessing you used fiberglass netting? How do you make it big enough and keep the smooth shape at the top. I'm going as magneto from FC to metrocon this coming summer. What are the tricky things I need to watch out for?

Final product looks wonderful. So can you explain something to me, picture 3, is that greenish outcome litterally just fiberglass resin over the cardstock? and from picture 3 to 4, how did you "iron out" all the indentations and curves in the actual roundness of the piece, i know bondo / body filler can fill in areas, but the fiberglassed piece has some serious contour differences from the final bondo'd piece.

hi, yes ultulva, on the imagne 3 is only resin and fiberglass
on cardboard.

I used to polish the bondo a machine sander, and match the edges I use a dremel and epoxy putty.

I put cardboard model to make the ornament of the border. always correcting the defects with epoxy

After you take out mold. The end result will be a single piece of resin and fiberglass.
