    Jun 12, 2012 - Looking to ID a piece #1

I am looking to ID these buttons. I, and others, believe them to be the "bar" part of a decorative jewelry clasp. Which one is now the question.

My research and that of some others over at FFP.net has turned up some close enough's - but in the interest of screen-accuracy - I would appreciate it if the "real" part could be found.

This is what we have come up with so-far.
and is what I will be using should the actual one not be found.

Here is a picture of what I am looking for.

Any help that y'all could provide would be awesome.
    Thanks.

I would say those are real buttons. The shape/style is known as a Toggle Button. Also might try searching for Bar Button, Barrel Button or Cylinder Button. You'll probably have to add "sewing" or "clothes" or "coat" to your search because just button searches bring up a lot of software buttons!

These vintages Barrel Buttons are somewhat similar.

I hope you can find the exact one, if not, at least maybe one you can live with Good luck in your search.

    Never even thought of that....thanks!
Been so caught up thinking they were a clasp part that I completely disregarded the button idea

Not saying it absolutely isn't a clasp part. It very well could be the toggle part of a toggle clasp like in your picture.....don't close any doors until you find your "dream" : )))

I found this "Roman Military Toggle" on ebay. 35mm puts it at about 1.4 inches, which looks like it might be around your scale. It says it is a tent toggle. If you wrapped a piece of wire around the middle it looks very close to your picture. Pricey for a button, but maybe there are reproductions somewhere you can look into.
