Kick-Ass Big Daddy costume

I've been watching the development of the indie superhero film Kick-*** for a while now, and last month they released an awesome teaser trailer for the film. Well luck be have it that my girlfriend went to the BNAT 11 Film Festival and got to see Kick-A$s movie in it's unfinished form months before it's release. She says it is as good as the previews show and more.

Nicholas Cage plays a Batman-esque character called "Big Daddy". I plan on making this costume in the coming months for the movies opening night. Maybe I'll build some other costumed characters from the film as well, but right now I will focus on BIG DADDY.

As soon as I read the comics, I was like, this would make for a fantastic bloody film.
And then about a week later I found out they were doing a movie for it.
I thought the timing couldn't have been better. And so far the Trailer is nearly spot on for scenes from the comics.
I can't wait.
Just expect it to be a very graphic movie if its completely true to the comics.

What are the leg braces for on the costume and the real body armor for?

They look like they'd be a bit of a hinderence in real world applications.

They are sort of assisted movement linkages for when your carrying weight. Also on some level they prevent ankle roll.

As for those leg braces. Yeah, not sure where to find those things. Good info about them being weight support mechanisms though. Will have to research that area a little more.

This looks to be an interesting suit to tackle. I heard it was French riot control gear for the majority of the Big Daddy suit.
