Iron Man MkIV WIP

Hi guys.

First post here (and first build). Nice to meet you guys ^_^
Hoping to complete soon- would like feedback, and have a few questions.

I'm not new to pepakura and have done quite a few halo helmets on the 405th. Heres what I've done so far- helmet by Samuray/Dungbeetle. Scaled at 250mm in height.


(This *might look a bit warped in the jaw, but I haven't glued the jaw properly to the main "head" bit yet O.o)






I have a couple of questions.

I) The helmet looks to be the correct size to my head- however, the neck hole is rather small. Cannot physically get it on my head. Would cutting out the back piece (the bit with the half-rectangular hole in) and then having it detach-reattach with velcro or magnets after I put on the helmet be a viable option, or are there any better options?

II) I'm in the UK and can't use resin at home due to the smell- also have no access to resining outside. I heard that jesmonite was the UK equivalent of aqua-resin and have a few kilos of the stuff to use in place of fiberglass resin.

- will that work alright?

Yes you will have to cut the lower back piece when u have done bondo stage and shaoe it. Thats what i have seen with everyone else helmets. Mostly seen using earth magnets to uold it in place also.

Thanks- anyone with info on whether Jesmonite will work ok?

Tried the Aqua Resin/Jesmonite and ruined the helmet- too much warping- scrapped it and am redoing a HD file. Willl be missing out the tiny details and working them in at the bondo/body filler stage.
