This is one AWESOME build! Great job!
This is one AWESOME build! Great job!
this looks great. I'm trying to begin my own Iron Man foam costume so this was pretty inspirational... I feel like this foam is the stuff from your average craft store, like the 2mm/6mm stuff from AC Moore's...is that true?
Cus if so, wow! I wouldn't imagine that that foam would be able to do this. I was thinking of having to get the foam mats for gym floors etc, but if plain ole craft foams works... (and its super cheap too) then that's what I'm going to go for!
yup from arts and crafts store, but understand 2mm and 3mm foam is very very thin!!, i only use the 2mm foam for like my neck parts, and the thin foam seem to have like minature holes or looks more frail compared to the closed cell 6mm foam that i used for most of my armor. I purchased mine on ebay i believe the link is somewhere in this thread.
I'm thankful i could inspire more builders , it pushes me to do more and improve my suit, i still have so much to redo, it seems like its never gonna be perfect haha
yay there using my photos of me fighting cyclops in there Comikaze group deals for the expo i showed my suit..
Stan Lee's Comikaze Groupon Deal
hey Iron man has to pee sooner or later..
and my little sister was bored one day and when i came home i saw this, a drawing of me on my fat faced manikin haha

That is very important... how they hell did you manage using the bathroom in that thing? Assuming I could move my armor out of the way, my freakin zentai suit has no bathroom opening haha
same question........ how did you manage to used to bathroom while in the suit..lolz
i ordered my zentai suit from ebay and custom made it with the zipper and i made a flap in the cod piece so i can open and velcro it back together =D works perfectly!
This is a great build hoping to start my mark VII Soon! This was very inspiring thanks![]()
Thanks i appreciate it.. good luck on ur build!!
here are some updated photos..
Finally added my hip pods and foam that wraps around my upper thigh portions..
from Long Beach COMIC CON
fully capable of sitting with the ab's pieces i made and utilized magnets to have them snap back into alignment
My suit will also be on two episodes of Stan Lee's new Show FAN WAR'S
NEXT SUIT WITH SERVO'S COMING SOON =D
That looks great. How much did you put into building it?
i haven't calculated on all the stuff i used just yet.. all i kno is that i used 24 pieces of 12"x18" 4mm eva foam , 2 reams of 110lb card stock, and unsure how much paint and glue sticks, the most expensive stuff would be the paint and prep supplies and tools and the gloves i purchased.
Jayjayn - Is your cod/lower torso pieces one uniform piece? I have mine glued that way and I have problems sitting because of the cod will try to rotate when i sit which causes the lower back pieces to try and move back which runs into my upper back piece. Do you run into this issue?
You rock bro, that is impressive work.
yeah my COD is one whole piece, but my side to back ribs attached to the cod run higher so when i sit, i simply push my back piece over when i'm about to sit, but my back and chest piece is slightly too large for me, and may encounter your issue when i remake it to the proper size it should be.
Thanks man definitely!
thank you everything you guys say helps motivate me more and more on my next suit =D
THIS really goes to show you how much work you need to put in for these projects...oh my..i have so much more to do!.....
AWESOME JOB!
Something about that silver/white Stan Lee signature just makes the whole thing that much more bad@ss. Flat out 100% awesome sauce.
thanks guys!! yup definitely going to get Stan Lee to sign my next suit in a few months =D
Onward to making some new foam gloves =D, I'm going to be at the E3 Convention on June 5th at a booth this coming Tuesday and need to see if i can make some new gauntlets that finally fit me right.

you've probably thought of this already, but why don't you just coat the chest piece with stan lee's signature with a few layers of gloss? that way you can display it and keep it protected?
This is awesome! Good work dude! I see that you're not too far from from me. Maybe you can help me out with my build lol.
So did you end up using 4mm foam for the entire suit?
This is an awesome thread, thanks for being so diligent with the photos. looks great, and very inspirational. I have to go finish my AB plate now...
i love this build! very cool
Would you say a helmet, boots, shins and hands would be an easy build for a beginner? I have a pretty neat idea, and I don't want to build a full suit just yet. I havent built a suit of any scale or design x3
but how much foam do you think I would need? And the scale for a person about 5'4" for the pepakura files?
But great work by the way! I love it![]()
