Hey I was just curious to know where everyone puts their buttons and switches and such. For things such as the faceplate going up and down, eyes turning on and off, repulsors as well. I have some ideas on where I want to put mine, but still feeling a bit iffy on things. So yeah I was just wondering.

I am putting the switch for my faceplate on the tip of my ring finger. It will control the faceplate up and down as well as turning the eye lights on and off

You could trigger the repulsors for your hands off of a finger as well. Take a push button and when you stretch you hand out all the way, you finger where it meets the knuckle could push that switch. That way you can move your hand around and still put it up without triggering the repulsor, but when you stretch your hand out all the way it triggers it.

nice ideas for the fingertip switches. i would also be interested to see where other builders have put their switches as well.

I would place them on the side or top of your indicator finger, you will be able to press the buttons with your thumb and still be able to grab things without all your electronics going crazy

For your repulsors, I've seen someone build them with bending sensors, if their hand made a big enough angle with their arm, the repulsors would fire.

I am going all out on the electronics for my suit. My setup includes an Arduino and Ciseco ERF wireless in the chest, helmet and each hand. The hands will have 5 reed switches each, one for each finger, and a 5DOF board attached. These boards, in combination, will allow many combinations for doing multiple things, e.g., for instance opening and closing the helmet, changing light brightness and colors (I am using RGB leds), signaling the playing of sounds effects (using a SeedStuido wave shield), etc. I have already prototyped the reed switches changing the colors of a remote LED array wirelessly. I have done the same with triggering sounds effects. I am just needing a few more supplies, plus a lot of code writing to get it all integrated.
