I think it'll look great on screen, with decent lighting, moving around etc. Iron Man changes his armour more ofter than X-Factor chooses its 'winner'. His armour has always been about change.
I hope they show him making the armour, I was kinda disappointed at the Mk VII appearance in Avengers, Epic entrance, but they didn't show any hard graft. Understandable i suppose cause of the length of the film.

Every Iron Man movie so far has had 3 different armors in it. Will the Mark VII even be in at the start (It was SEVERELY trashed at the end of Avengers)? Color scheme could be a prototype as well (considering the Mark II was design-wise identical to the Mark III minus paint).
The film doesn't come out for a year. It's nice to have official stuff now, but I still think it's somewhat a teaser image. There's definitely more we haven't seen yet.
if I remember rightly, in the Avengers, doesn't Tony say to Jarvis when he lands on Stark tower to confront Loki "skip the spinning rims then, we're on the clock" about the Mk 7... could the new colour be those 'spinning rims'?
also the red at certain angles looks like it may have some kind of texturing, almost a walnut style. personally I'd love some texturing on it and after reading the Iron Man 3 live panel rundown some footage got shown that does have extremis style suit bits where parts of the suit fly across the room and build around him (supposedly the cod piece causes an issue!) so that'll be why it's a bit more streamlined.
I love the design. It looks more like it was designed for blending in to deserts in combat.
Don't like it? Don't be mad. There seem to be several suits per movie. For all we know this may only be around for 10 minutes before it gets blown up.
Like the new helmet but not a big fan of the rest of the suit.

I like the design with it being more smooth which looks more like the extremis or new ironman comic suit. I like the helmet with the ears but the mouth is a little to much of a frown. I really don't like the color scheme. The red isn't to bad but the gold or beige is to much and doesn't look right. It messes with my eyes because it looks like there is to much going on there.
Would definitely like to see more pics of the iron patriot. And who knows maybe this suit is the one that is stolen or revamped as the iron patriot like the mark II was in IM 2 which would mean there is a another suit. It also makes sense why they would make the new suit public already. Because it might not be the only one.
I read some news regarding the Q&A panel at SDCC regarding the mk8. They said it would be like mk5 in the 2nd movie, so we should expect a mk9 sometime in the future.
Hmmmm... how many MK are we expecting here in the future?

the movie suits always had been imperfect and had that "orange peel" on the red paint (more evident in the IM2 if you use the special features on the blu-ray). And in the Extremis comic movie had a red crinkle paint for the texture. And the movie War Machine wasn't matte black. It's black crinkled paint.bignatedegg56 said:

Sorry no that is incorrect. I have production made pieces for War Machine and no crinkle paint was used on these pieces.
