Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
I have a Wested lamb but not for costuming; I just like the way it looks. When fall in L.A. rolls around, it's definitely my favorite jacket. The leather is like butter!

Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
I purchased a 'medium' wested on ebay (i'm a 38 and normally wear a small) and i needed to have the sleeves let out, which isn't cheap on a leather jacket. It's definately the shortest leather jacket I own but if you've got the swagger for it, it is a great look.

Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
Same here, except mine is Novapelle, purchased for the purpose of wearing it like any other jacket. Like you wrote, butter; it immediately became my favorite leather jacket (and I've owned a few). And, yeah, it's a bit too warm to wear here in the Los Angeles area unless the temperature dips below, say, 65°F.

Here is a pic of my Tony Nowak Raiders jacket in Shrunken Lamb:

Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
So I've been looking around at getting a new Indiana Jones jacket and thought I might ask what the most accurate version being offered by Wested was. I found several different coats on their site and many different options. Which is the most screen accurate? 99% sure that Lambskin is what the original was made from in Raiders. I saw another option for Shrunken Lambskin and got lost from there...lol
Can anyone help me out? |

Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
I'm no expert, but from what I understand, Wested's Hero in seal brown lambskin is the closest Raiders jacket.
Standard Indy Hero Jacket But it all depends on what movie/scene/look you're going for. I like the Raiders opening (idol grab) look, so I'll be buying a new "standard" Indy jacket from Todd's Costumes, and then (maybe) a Wested Hero. I'm a huge fan of Todd's "Bantu Wind" jacket; unfortunately the tanning process left the underlying leather gray so it doesn't distress with the screen-accurate reddish undertones. Otherwise I wouldn't even be looking for another jacket. ![]() More here, if you're interested: http://www.therpf.com/f24/long-last-...ession-138193/ |

Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
Ah, thank you for the info. Any idea if the jackets run small/large? I've read both after scouring the forums.

Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
Alls I know is, the Hero is a slimmer fit. Otherwise I defer to the dedicated Hero thread on COW. (Sorry.)

Also, I'm I crazy, or weren't these jackets closer to $175 before?

Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
That sounds about right. I think mine was about $225 shipped (five years or more ago).

Re: The Indiana Jones Jacket Thread
Grey distressed areas can be made to look more reddish by treating the leather with Lexol or Pecard's.
