Incorporating lightsheet into a cloth mask

I've never messed with this stuff. I have no idea how flexible it is, how durable it is, or if it gives off any kind of heat.

You know how comic book characters almost always have the bright white pupiless eyes? I was thinking - what if you made a mask with colored mesh where your eyes really are (so you can see), but made white lightsheet "eyes" right above your real ones?

Any problems with this idea? Has it been done before? Pics?

The main problem I can see with this is that the light would effectively render you unable to see while it's switched on.

EL lightsheet can be flexed around a cylinder (around 1 1/4") but not around more than one axis, i.e. you can not mold it to a shape that is not cylindrical.
The type that I have experimented with has been opaque. You can cut it into shapes and/or punch holes through it and it will still function. It is difficult to solder wires to it, and you need to do this to one original edge of the lightsheet.

There have been a few threads not too long ago about white contact lenses, I suggest you check out those too.

Thanks, guys. The whitecontact lenses really won't cut in in my circumstance, as I need the lightsheet for something much bigger and non-eye-related.

I'd like the red "maw" on his face to be red lightsheet. I figure that if I can use black mesh where my real eyes would be, I could place white lightsheet eyes right above or right below.

If the lightsheet can only be bent around one axis, then I guess I can mold a cylindrical surface around the mouth area. I dunno.

You sure the read "maw" face is supposed to glow?
I dunno if it would be worth it, because red EL lightsheet is less bright than EL in any other color.
I guess you could bend that complex shape a little bit more. Lightsheet is made of a few layers of thin plastic, so you could think of it as being like a stiff "transparency" or rather, maybe three transparencies glued together. I think that the face part would need a stiff backing, so that it holds its shape.

Not sure if it&#39;s supposed to glow. They don&#39;t really describe the mask&#39;s composition.

But I think it would look really cool if I could pull it off.

this is the same stuff I used in my Green Lanters suit. You could put that into a cloth mask no problem. when you make the mask make sure that the red "maw" area is clear vinyl with a black spandex or whatever pouch behind it to hold the EL sheet. just slide the EL sheet in with a red screen in fron of it and switch it on. You can use it for eyes as long as you put it just above or below your eyes hiding your eyes with fine black mush or something.

Of course, placing the "red maw" lightsheet so it looks right means placing it over my nose and mouth.

How do I get around this? I want it to look good, but I still kinda need that oxygen to get by. Hmmm.........

You could put small holes through out the EL sheet. They may be visible,
however, you will get your precious oxygen lol.
