Jul 26, 2012 - Help with some ideas for fabric prints. #1

    Hello all.

I've a request from the community. I have a friend that's looking to make some extra dough to help support herself and her 5 year old. She's a graphic designer and one of her specialties is tileable patterns, like the ones used in spoonflower for fabric printing. I've pointed her that direction, but I'm a bit remiss in suggestions as to what she can offer up over there. So I thought I'd hit up the community over here. If you can think of any type of fabric print that would go over well with people like us, please chime in and let me know. Any hard to find prints you'd like to see available?

    Your 2 cents are appreciated.

How about the pattern from Marty McFly's Shah Safari shirt? It's simple...but I'm not sure how in demand it is. Might be nice to have a source of material to make your own shirts from.

That's just the first thing I could think of. I'll give it some more thought.

Haha. I think I've only mentioned that one once before on the board, so I'm not surprised he didn't know about it.

I'm not sure how well it would work out, or even if Spoonflower has a close enough base material, but how about the chevron-patterned blue material for the Captain America TFA costume.

    ...Just spitballing.

I was actually going to have her do that when I was approached to make the suit, but I couldn't find anyone to print it. Most printers won't touch the cordura because of it's treatment and the fact that it takes heat that will melt the cordura to set the print.
