I was watching Voyager on Spike TV. I saw Tuvoc wearing this casual tunic that looked A LOT like the Nemesis uniform. I can't remember the name of the episode (deleted it from the DVR before I thought to write it down.) It was the episode where pirates stole the computer core, and other tech devices from Voyager including the mobile holo emitter. Janeway's holo-DaVincci went along for the ride. Janeway and Tuvoc went planet-side to retrieve the items.

Anyone know the time line of this episode in relation to the introduction of the nemesis style uniform? I was curious. I like this wrap across tunic. Made me think of a cross between new uniforms and the TWoK uniforms. Slap a strap (black?) over the right shoulder with rank pins and I think it'd be a GREAT alternate uniform.

Here's a link to my album of shots. I know it's pics of my TV, but that's the best my poor tech skills could manage. I need a new computer with a capture card...

Andy which Nemesis are you talking about, There was a Voyager episode called Nemesis, and then of course Star Trek X. I don't recall this costume being used in the movie.

My appologies, I was talking of the movie. The black uniforms and gray shoulders with color undershirts.

I know Tuvok's costume was not used in the movie (to my knowledge), but it struck me as similar in color and design to the nemesis Movie verson of the standard SF uniform.

All though the fabric looks lke something you'd see on a couch rather than wool, the gray*ish* shoulder yoke even has the vertical lines.

Andy,
Surprisingly enough, I was watching a third season episode of DS9 called "Through the Looking Glass" last night where the character of Tuvoc appeared. I don't know if this is officially the first "Tuvoc sighting" in the Trek universe, but Tim Russ was wearing something very similar to the costume in that picture.

Ah I see what your asking, after re-reading your first post. I'm not sure, that would be a question to ask Blackman, its possible that when he redesigned the first contact uniform this particular piece stuck in his mind.

MasterJedi - Nope, that wasn't the first Trek appearance of Tuvok.

Voyager started airing in January of '95, and that episode of DS9 aired in April of '95.

The black and grey uniforms were produced for First Contact to replace the DS9/Voyager versions. It was decided that those w/ the color on top and black on the bottom did not look very good on the big screen in "Generations" (which is why there is actually a mixture of two uniform styles in Generations). In order to mesh DS9 w/ the movies, DS9's uniforms had to be changed as well. Which was done a year later since FC was a bit further ahead in the timeline than the DS9 episodes that were in production when FC was in production. Voyager didn't change b/c they were stuck in the Delta quadrant.

In-universe timeline-
"Rapture" (the first episode of DS9 to feature the new uniforms) stardate: between 50049.3 and 50416.2
"First Contact" stardate: 50893.5
"Concerning Flight" stardate: 51386.4

"First Contact" was released in '96, "Concerning flight" was released was released in '97

Yeah, I saw that episode the other day and thought the same thing "Gee, those look like the black and greys!" It was of course meant to be civilian wear for Tuvok to blend into that planet's mixed population. It did take its styling cues from the black and grey though.
