Help identifying Captain America Avengers boot and arm guard detail?

Hey everyone, I'm assuming some kind fo elastic but does anyone know an actual name for what the "straps" on Caps boots and arm guards are made of?

I've looked at a ton of elastic and can't find anything with this exagerrated wave look. Or am I barking up the wrong tree in looking for elastic?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did search through a ton of Cap builds. Most are for the First Avenger.

it looks like strips of those anti slip table mats painted red

They look like a heavier version of elastic sports wrap tape.

I'm actually making the same costume and I wasn't sure whether to try and find something like this, or to just use elastic as well. I'm still umming and ahhing about it. It depends on the elasticity of that sort of product I suppose considering those parts are the bits that will hold the gauntlets in place on the body.

Thanks for the input everyone. P4r4dox... I'm going to see if I can find some of those matts locally to experiment with the strectch and coloring them and see how they match up when cut. I'll keep you posted. That way we both don't waste our time on the same thing.

Awesome thanks mate! Thread subscribed to so I can keep up with updates I think I've seen them around as bathmats in small sizes here, so it's likely you might find some of them in places that sell bathroom stuff.

why not buy material similar to the straps and thread thin elastic string through it and pull the fabric back so it wrinkles. that way you have a functional foldy elastic strap.

I'd had the same thought Brimstone, I was thinking that if the bath mat stuff didn't have enough stretch, of stretching out the elastic and hot gluing the other stuff to the top of it and then letting the elastic retract and it should bunch together similar to in the pics, it'd just be trial and error.

Found what I was looking for today in a cheap shop!
