Halo Reach Jun Helmet.

Hey everyone!

As you can tell by the post count, i am new! But from the awesome stuff contained within these pages i reckon i'll be here for good. Anyway, my names Dave, Or CALIBER, i live down in Aus, sadly very few conventions. and therefore i am basicly doing this as a hobby.

Okay, onto the project, (This will be a long first post). I started this helmet a while ago, and i guess i'll show you one picture from each stage, if you want more i will chuck the link to the original WIP i started over on the 405th.

Okay, here goes.

This is the helm i am aiming for(or around about, i only had three pictures and they were all different, but i reckon it came out well). (At the point in time there was no pepakura file for this helm, so i used an original and went off it.

)

I started off with the papercraft method of making armour. Glued, peped and ready to fibreglass.

And then it was Fibreglassed, and i started building up the top with expanding foam.

Form there i started cardboarding and building up the details of the helmet.

And more cardboard and body filler later, we get...

Many hours and body filler later.

And then some more time, body filler, and sanding!

And then i got lazy with the photo's and started doing videos!

No one at all? I might have to throw myself off a bridge

. Updates will be coming soon guys, got the forearm nearly done and the bicep is ready to be moulded. Helmet needs more silicone before it can be done.

. expensive stuff.

Anyway, doing a test with a coin and a small amount of silicone to familiarise myself with the medium. Then i am gonna finish the forarm and go out to the shed and put in a window.

what type of clay are you using again?

I am using Chavant NSP Hard Clay. Fantastic stuff. But if i was you (or me for that matter) i would get the medium grade stuff. This clay needs a lot of heat to be softened and easily worked on.

Mind you i havn't tried sanding it yet. That will probably work, its hard enough.

)

Anyway, i'll have a video update soon. As a side note, i moulded a coin. and i didn't realise how easy silicone is to use, and just hor strong it is. Loving life!

Haha, Thanks man! The helmet won'te be tweaked, but i could definately use some for the legs and chest area.

. If your cool with that of course, even some of the arms would be awesome!

it was pretty wild. i have pics posted on my own thread, check em out and if you need close ups of any armor took pics of just let me know which and i'll post of them in your thread

just to let everyone know. Only game industry people were allowed into E3. Those statues were outside the exhibit halls for the general public to see.

Yeah, I'm just tired of people here saying they went when they actually were just loitering outside the exhibit halls. E3 is no joke. kids cant even go, it's an 18 and up event and they check your badges religiously when you enter the halls.
