Many years ago some people would say that the GH, like the Fyberdyne, was sculpted from scratch and couldn't have come from the original, and I remember trying to convince them otherwise. This provides another example of lineage in how the deviations in curvature around the crown of the head of the GH match the DS 20th C. If it was a scratch sculpture, you wouldn't have that sort of similarity.

Also, that right side of the mouth triangle that DS built up wasn't, as everyone would say before, warped, simply that the irregularities on that side (you see them on something like the VP ANH or Paul Allen ESB) were sanded down making that top surface of the mouth triangle thinner on the top giving the impression of warpage. If it was truly warped, the lower edge would be different and it isn't.

The right side of the nosebridge was also sanded down quite a bit on the GH or whatever it came from, as the left side of the noseslots is accurate, but not the right (Vader's right).

Just my

Nope, sorry. If I'm not posting up progress photos it means that I'm not working on anything Just a little sarcasm, couldn't help myself ya know?

I in fact have been working on this helmet on and off for the last few days. The dome has been repainted and has now been wet sanded and buffed out to a fairly nice shine. Not overly so, more like a 6 year old used car shine really. The faceplate now has it's two toned finish, but needs some touching up here and there.

The photograph at the bottom is not what I had wanted to post. It is just one from the top of our dinning room table that has become something of a, "dust free zone" for projects in progress. Not really dust free, but better than the environment out in the studio. The pic is very washed out from the flash, and was taken far to close to the helmet. But I just wanted a rush photo to post real quick.

More, and better photos latter

I once believed that, as the physical appearance of these compared to accurate styled helmets is so vastly different in several areas, but some idiosyncrasies from the original that wouldn't make sense to replicate, nor would likely be possible to replicate, gives away that they indeed originate from something accurate, but that they were butchered, imo. It still looks like Vader, sure... but it might as well be the RotS.

There's a lot more going on in those helmets than mere sanding on their common source. It was physically altered and the evidence is clear as day in that picture. If you cannot see that, then you are blind.
