I have a dark brown with beige pin stripe wool and cashmere suit. I of course want to get my beige stripes to blue. I have experience dyeing fabrics, and normally when dyeing wool it is only done with fabric before cutting for a costume since wool fabric shrinks so much in a hot water dye bath.
The problem here however, is I cannot have the wool shrink since it is already a suit, and I am looking for an adequate method for getting my beige stripes blue without the use of hot water. Has anyone had any luck dyeing wool in a pre-made garment? I was considering painting the stripes individually by hand, but the dye generally has to be mixed to a paste and am concerned that the finished product will not look right as any blue dye paste on the dark brown will cause a slightly different shade then the rest of the dark brown.
Any suggestions for achieving my blue stripes on my brown wool pinstripe suit?
