    Aug 8, 2012 - Costumes for 'heavier' people? #1

Every year my buddy has a Halloween party where we have to dress up. Personally, I love to dress up in costume so I don't feel out of place (showing up and not wearing a costume), but some times, I feel out of place for another reason. Most of the costumes I've had were Marty from Back to the Future, The Joker from The Dark Knight etc. The problem, what I think is, these costumes require more slim people, and I myself happen to be more gravity generous than the characters I want to dress up as.

So, my question is: What are some good costume options for a big guy like myself?

    Thanks,
    Steamboat Spidey

Depends whether you're making or buying, and what sort build level you want to go with, and also how gravitous you actually are.

First I can think of KingPin, Ed from Shaun of the Dead, Gamorean Gaurd if you're uber talented, Henchman 24 from Venture Brothers, or Sgt Hatred.

mmm, struggling to think of anymore atm.

58 seconds into the video. Sjbonnar does one of the best Penguins I've ever seen and you'll see him in a few parts of the video.

Well like it depends how tall you are/how much you weigh. Penguin sounds like a cool idea, I personally like the AC version. You could also possibly pull of a "The Dark Knight Returns" Joker, if you really like The Joker.

Mario, Jon Goodman's character Walter from The Big Lebowski, Jabba the Hut, Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Oogie Boogie.... Oogie Boogie would be awesome! You can always try to turn it on its head and make your larger size part of the joke. Like be a My Little Pony, or a middle-aged version of a superhero who has let himself go. Ninja Turtle could be fun, with a big shell. Or just be what you want to be!

I like that you want to dress to your bodytype, but honestly, if you are a bit heavy and want to dress like the Silver Surfer, do it! 10 years ago, I was 220, and now I'm 170-for me, it was what I wanted to do for health reasons as well as cosplay reasons, but honestly, if you are happy with the way your are, don't pigeonhole yourself to characters like the Blob, Penguin or Kingpin-I run into people who don't necessarily have the "superhero" build all the time, and they are more than happy dressing as Plasticman or Captain America-we are all about fun here, right? Do what feels good

To piggyback off what Looch said... Do you enjoy the costumes you typically wear? And do you usually get a good response to them? If the answer is yea to either, don't change anything.

I would so dress up like Walter except I can't grow a beard and I have zero make up experience. Although I did see a Mad Monster Lab video on fake beards.

I was just talking about this with a friend. Did you know there was actually a web-series after the "pilot"? It was like 6 episodes or something. I haven't had a chance to watch them yet, but I'd really like to. "Nuka Break" is one of the best fan films I've ever seen.

And yeah, it would be a neat costume!

You could also do Master Chief. I've seen so many original iterations of Mjolnir.

    Perhaps Penguin, from Batman?
