+1 on the above link. Might I also suggest, if you are not going to make templates on the computer, buy a nice set of french curves. An inexpensive heat gun will also go a long way! They will really help. Good luck.
i just brought some foam and a heat gun and my first glue gun :P

also what are french curving and where might i pick some up and this costume i want to try is going to be hard , set my eyes on dead space suit.
ps. how can i curve the edges of the foam to make them less ridged
