They latch hooking is comnplete, woo hoo, just minor tweaks needed, will post pics tomorrow.

Meanwhile I have being making progress on the skull!

Sculpt all greased up ready for moulding!

Jesmonite mould, approx 3 layers!

Negative, looking positive!

The next step was to remove a layer approx 5mm from the sculpt and carve out the underskull.
Rough and ready but will be smoothed out before moulding.

I then cast a temp gelatin skin to act as a guide for building up support.

Just waiting on RTV silicone before I mould the skull.

I know this is off topic, so I apologize, but does anyone know the measurements of the Chewbacca mask from the OT? Just wondering if anyone was able to share this info.

Not sure if that info is in the public domain, like a lot of SW stuff details are quite sketchy.

Here's the finished suit! Still needs a little tweaking (adding hair here and there) but very happy overall!

Will top out at approx 7'5", I'm 5'11", I'm giddy like a little kid at Christmas!!

Giddy and sore of finger from knotting? Did you beef up the shoulders somehow on that, or is that just how the hair lays?

Yeah, I kinda figured that knowledge wouldn't be readily available. I have been scouring that website for several months now looking at all the amazing photos...that's where most of my reference material has come from. But thanks for bringing it up. I'm getting close to a finished sculpt that I'm happy with.

Top quality work man and thanks for posting all the steps and pictures. Never thought of doing a chewie but might down the line now. Cant wait to see the face when fully done

Your next two projects should be a bowcaster and then a partially assembled C-3po to wear on your back. Just sayin'.

broken up c3po add on would be awsome, also very easy to add lighting by the way of rice lights (eyes) and randon 3po sounds + phrases by way of mp3 how about servo controlled head movement on the 3po ok ok now i'm getting carried away

Nobody would want one more than me but it would have to be vac formed, fibreglass would be too heavy. God knows the suit would be hot enough without a tonne weight on your back.
