    Jun 20, 2012 - Captain America Suit #1

Here are the latest pics of my Cap suit.

Just finished doing a stunt show which was a lot of fun.

New stunt shield as well, welded back handle parts and such to make sure she stood up to the abuse of a 10 lbs Thor hammer hitting it, and X23 claws slashing at it, oh, and Ironfist throwing punches and kicks at it. (MvC3 stunt show) Also, the star is machined into the front of the shield, not a separate piece on top. I originally had a stunt shield with the star on top, but during one of the rolls across the carpeted surface, one of the star ends got caught and it ripped the star right off. At that point I knew I finally had to break down and figure out how to groove the star out.

The suit is a mixture of designs, mainly based off Ultimate Alliance 1, but with design hints towards the TFA suit, and the Avengers suit.

I'm currently working on a TFA suit, and my own version of the Avengers suit as well.

suit held up well until I cracked the aluminum star on my chest the second day of the show. I ended up just gluing and spraying it silver. No one even noticed.

Great suit, Chris! Can't wait to see the other suits you are working on.

And I think it goes without saying, but I love the shield . The machined star is fantastic.

    I made the shield

The show was a Anime/Video game Convention down in Tampa that holds a fight show in the middle of the con. Our part in the show was the MvC3 part.

here are some close ups of the machined in star

Note... there are no corner "rivets" in this star.. we were in a rush, and that feature we decided to leave off since it wasn't important for the show and the shield being more than 30 feet from the audience.

again, pretty sloopy, but I'm working on tightening up the fixturing for the next time.

Can you get a super close ****? It's hard to see if you machined the while star down or just the edge. Really great job though!

The children must have been horrified. I know how to properly dispose of this for you.

It is excellent work. They just seem to get better and better.

Props aside, Is your action stunt show for charity?

Hey Chris, WOW!!!!!!! that is really all I can express. That is an awesome Captain. Do you guys do these shows on a certain criteria basis. I would love to see the show, looks great. Let me know when you guys might be doing it again and I will try to make it to see. Fantastic work, the boots are the bomb. The uniform is dead on, the mask is reminant of the original Cap. Thanks,

hey, not sure what you are asking here. The edges of the star are grooved out, with one side (blue side) chamfered, and the star edge strait vertical in the cut.. so cross section looks like "|/" instead of "\/" cross section of the other grooves. So the shield is all one piece.

    Hi Chris,
just stumbled across this thread. Looking good! Course I think the rivets would make it look
perfecto, but it looks pretty awesome so far! Would love to see very close pics of the groove lines between the star and the blue, but so far looks excellent!!!
Hey, just a couple of questions if you don't mind. Where did you get your boots? Are those the Cherry Red Doc Martens? Any info would be great. THX, talk with ya later. Stunt show looks fantastic btw.

Rich - Boots where from SinisterSoles.com, they were white demonia boots that I painted red with vinyl paint.

Blackwader... aside from the shield, not too long. Some very talented folks out in orlando sewed the suit together. And I did all the leather and metal work, and sculpted and casted an undermask for the hood.
