Batman/nightwing desert storm
Hey everyone,
I'm making The Desert Storm armor that Pepmaster got us. I'm making 2 different versions of this, One is the batman version and one is the Nightwing version. I just ran in a little snag, do i fiberglass resin it now ? And do i add the fiberglass matts on the inside only ? Fairly new to finishing this stuff :P so let me know plz ^^ anyway here are the pictures I'm making this as fast as i can i expect to have a mold done the 3rd day after xmas. ![]()

Re: Batman/nightwing desert storm
it seems a little small to me
resin the outside, wait for it to dry, then fibreglass on the inside. this will prevent warping, because its allready hardened no fibreglass on the outside you would have to use filler over that, and its way more work to sand then |

Re: Batman/nightwing desert storm
when u do the fibre glassing on the inside.BUY a spray adhesive.. I tried to put it on with some pva I let sit for some seconds, witch I read somewere, and used since spray isnt cheap,
BIG misstake, for the next run im deffe. buying the spray adhesive^^ GL |

Re: Batman/nightwing desert storm
thats allways a problem, if you try to do it on the cheap, it usually ends up either fuxxed up, or more expensive
![]() spray glue really isnt expensive, and you dont need to use it excessively, especially if you have a half upper body, as you dont have upsides, that the fibreglass could fall off of, like you have with a full body. i would just use the spray glue for the corners and stuff, for the flat areas, just resin will work |

I hope you plan on doing that outside Rensole. Those fumes are very, very toxic.

Re: Batman/nightwing desert storm
Just so you know the width is good, the height is off, if you go into pepakura designer and either increase the scale by 20% or add 5 inches to the height measurements, the size should be perfect. It should go from right below the neck to your waist, but the size is off on it right now and it looks like it would fit someone 5 inches shorter than you.

Re: Batman/nightwing desert storm
Hmm to add to the height, you could seperate the Abs from the rest of the chest right where it would be below the Ribcage, and add in a extra set of Ab Plates with EVA foam or something.

Re: Batman/nightwing desert storm
i was thinking about making a mold once im done with all of this then cast it seperate it then (smooth on plastic will be easyer to cut imo) then recast an extra top part and glue that on remake a cast ? i dunno at this point i got no money for new stuff lol...
almost done right now waiting for the last set to heal then going to smooth it out again |

Re: Batman/nightwing desert storm
hey guys small update....
unfortunatly there is something wrong with the armor, the polyurethane fiberglass didnt stick as well to the paper as i wanted to, and the bondo was to cource to actually sand down. instead... im starting over as of today. I'm currently waiting on Pepmasters gauntlet's i wanna finish the arms first. Currently i also made a mold for the Arkham city batarang. With some luck i will be able to pull a decent mold from it by tomorrow hell maybe even in an hour or 2 with some luck depends if i can get everything in order ^^ will post picture's tomorrow ^^ |
