Re: Avengers Costume Changes

Honestly it's a bit unfair to compare a posed photo from the movie to a candid photo on set. I say this in regards to Cap especially as his pose in the first avenger his back is arched which pushes out his chest (typical hero pose) which definitely shows off the costume better then the other pose.

That being said, yeah the chin strap design on the newer one does look a little camp, but I suppose that was the film makers trying to create a look closer to the classic cap costume (which looking at the other elements makes sense).

Lets not forget that it's up to the filmmakers to make any changes they wish between movies, especially when it's a different director making the decisions, and usually most costumes change between movies and then usually based on reaction after release.

On the whole I like both versions of each, as they keep the right design elements for each character and it is only through comparison do we notice the differences (which 99.9% of the public wouldn't catch anyway).

Re: Avengers Costume Changes

Somehow, in this suit, I feel like Captain America is like the clown of it all. He actually looks quite dumb.. but that's my opinion.

I agree with you the round arc reactor looks far better than the triangle one. This is why I ended up building the MK3 although I guess the MK4 would have been fine too.

Re: Avengers Costume Changes

i think cap looks WAAAAAAY too blue, its like that fabric seems to absorb light around it and it just looks like a spandex fantastic 4 suit.. :/
the old suit was better.

and wtf is with black widows bracelets? the looked decent in the first costume, but now can't even stay straight, or look like any sort of equipment

Re: Avengers Costume Changes

I agree that the Mark VII looks very nice. The trailer though clearly shows the triangular reactor

Sorry if the caps are blurry

Maybe Stark uses the old armor throughout most of the movie and upgrades to the Mark VII at the very end?

Granted, trailers can sometimes be very inaccurate when compared to the final movie, so who knows

Re: Avengers Costume Changes

In the trailer you can also see some "circle" chest scenes. I think the Mk. VI is destroyed, and Tony upgrade/replace it for the avengers new group.

I think the originals are better. Capt looks like he just came out of the plastic case. Maybe he is doing shows again in the new movie.

I dig all the changes except Black Widow. But it's mostly just her hair and that seems like she's not in the same shape she was before...... like at all.

I am actually working on an Iron Man Mark VI Suit for the premiere.. When I saw the Mark VII Suit I was like "Nooo.... Please don't switch yet.."

I do think he might destroy the Mark VI suit and wear the Mark VII suit for The Avengers.

As for the pep, It would be very hard to model it because there are a couple of missing reference shots.. so, it might not work out as expected..
I just wish they would tell us "Hey! Tony Stark is going to have the Mark VII suit!"

Re: Avengers Costume Changes

There are times when I see the "new" Cap and think it might work & then its put side by side with the 1st one & it just doesn't have that feel. As my son said it doesn't look right, something is off ... can't put my finger on it just yet.

So, it looks like we are all agreed-Cap's new helmet is a big no! At least show his ears!

Re: Avengers Costume Changes

The thing that is the major issue with Cap's suit is the helmet.. it doesn't fit him as well as the TFA one did. They should of kept the TFA one and intergrated it into this suit. I think its the small eye openings and the different shape mouth opening that just doesn't work well with Chris's face.

Re: Avengers Costume Changes

Any possibility we'll see a Hulkbuster in Avengers? Perhaps... Anybody know if this is just a toy w/o any real ties to the movie? Design elements on this Hulkbuster look similar to the MkVIII model, particularly the chest and abdomen.
