I have a feeling that there might be two camps in the costume world. Blue or not blue.
    This is the non-blue thread.
The camo design doesn't actually exist does it? There were no costumes. What about the mask? It is a poor design as it would fog easily.
    Anyone looked into this yet?

There are scenes where the mask does fog up, then it goes away after a moment. Probably there is some fan or valve that lets the moisture out w/o letting the "bad air" in.

Are you referring to the camo pattern on their BDU's? there's an article here on them. They look similar to current digi camo patterns, but revised based on shape and hues of green. Similar design to Cadpat / Marpat / ACU, etc..

See my post in this section titled AVATAR SecOps Equipment. Elsewhere we believe that James Cameron's wardrobe department had the pattern custom designed; the surprise is that it hasn't leaked out to the public yet.

As for the mask, they may have done something similar to how I solved the problem in my replica exopack; anti-fog (available at any SCUBA shop), and the hoses may have been attached to a fan in the pack, blowing air onto the lens inside the mask.

If you're looking for an acceptable substitute for the camo pattern, look into the US Air Force's new field uniform. the pattern is a digital tiger stripe; properly bleached and dyed with lime colored dye it looks better than the US Army's ACU pattern.

Oculus1857: you bet you bippy! I'll be wearing my outfit to cons in the Seattle area, until they throw me out or the mutant Smurfs take me down!

The camo (sometimes referred to as AVPAT) is a completely custom design. The giveaway is that all of the pixel blocks are outlined in the light green color that's used in the pattern, no current digital camo pattern that I'm aware has any outlines around the pixels they're all just solid colors. If you wanted to make your own you could get it custom printed but from the little research that I've done none of the custom fabric printing places online offers any of the types of fabrics used by the US military for any fatigue uniform. The pattern can be made by copying from the DVD or hi-res screencaps, looks for the scene of where Quartich is in one of the transports and his back is to the camera, in that scene you can make out the exact pattern of pixels that make up AVPAT.

Anyone want to speculate why there isn't more interest in the "AVPAT" camo?
It can't be because they are the bad guys. We love villains in movies.
Is it too close to actual current issue to not be worth the effort?

I always thought someone should work on creating a swatch of the pattern and it send it to one of those Chinese companies on eBay that sell the knockoff Multicam. Since these Chinese companies will knockoff just about anything and since there's probably little to no chance of seeing an AVPAT uniform made it probably wouldn't be too of a way to go. It would probably be mostly a matter of convincing them that it would be worth their time to do but I figure that between us costumers and airsofters they could probably make money selling AVPATs.

Has anyone tried to do an RDA SecOps replica of the full helmet with rebreather face piece? I am looking for a good photo or replica of that helmet.

Check out the extended DVD/Blueray version. Some of the critical scenes of characters wearing exo-packs have no visor! The visor was CG'ed in during editing.

As far as fogging, Spectremar Beris (sp) or other anti-fog solutions are available at scuba pro shops.

The 'pixels' of the Avatar camo are way bigger than any of the current 'digital' camo patterns. None of them look very convincing for Avatar Camo. The closest thing I have seen, and something that is cheap and readily available are digital bed sheets sold in WalMart. The only thing you need to do is outline the patterns with indelible felt tip markers.
