Assassins creed 2 - Ezio (Finished for expo!)

Hello,
I thought it would be a good idea to post a WIP to see if any of you kind and talented people could lend a hand! And see how it progresses.

The goal is obviously this:
Assassins-Creed-2-Ezio.jpg

I'm keen to do some other props if I have the time as-well (Sword, dagger . . .) But I have to focus on the main costume for the moment If I'm going to get it done in time for an expo in October. (15th-16th)

No progress pictures yet – just lots of research.
Here's the general Idea of what's going on:

I'm buying the fabric for the main robe, sash, cape and shirt shortly along with interfacing to make it hang better. In the mean time I need to get on with pattern making.

For the metal parts (belt buckle, pauldron clips, and the detail on the bracer)
I'm going to try the popular super sculpey method, need to buy some and make the templates.

Still need to buy the boots and pants which is proving harder then I thought :confused

More soon

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Pictures hurrray!

Got the fabric for the tunic, shirt, lining and sash today.
One picture of the fabrics laying on the table all pretty, and one of the glove I got earlier, I figure It's going to be easier to add the extra fold back bit as more off a wristband rather then cutting a hole in the glove for the hidden blade to come out of.

Pattern making next :confused

More later.

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

I've been wanting to create an Ezio costume ever since finishing the AC2 myself! Goodluck on your build!

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Is that gray shiny? if so, you might want to change it out for some other kind. It looks terrible when its assembled. I used it on the first take of my doublet, and it looked like one of those cheapo ones you can buy on ebay ><

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Subscribing for info. I want to do my own eventually. I'd listen to Fev. She seems to know what she's talking about.

No, it's not shiny at all, probably just my camera.
But thanks for the warning as I of course really don't want it looking cheap.

More pics soon, got the paper for the patterning today though.

And thanks for the luck wishing :)

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Sorry I havn't posted for ages, real life got in the way for a while.
I did get some stuff done in the past month though.

I've brought almost all the materials now:
Suede for the cape, I still need the lining for it though.
6071705828_1a607b099f.jpg

Pretty lace.
6071162291_5567b3b0d0.jpg

Gold braid, (to be replaced) buckles (not enough) and rope
6071706540_073ce2cfd5.jpg

I got leather to, but that's going to be a bit of a problem
And I still need boots.

Most of what I've been doing since last time is research and pattern making, but the shirt is progressing well and I've started sculpting the belt buckle.

@Sonicfreak04 Fev has allready helped me and a lot of other Ezio cosplayers just with her website and blog posts, I really don't want to pester her with PM's.

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

So progress on the sewing is pretty slow as this is really my first time sewing anything. Great choice for a first project, I know. :rolleyes

I think I'll end up with a pretty nice end result though, I've researched this project for a long long time.

So anyway, more sewing today, hopefully I'll get something up about that soon, but here's what I've been up to in the mean time.

6121850777_4ffe4df599_z.jpg

The necklace.

6121849255_9507a7093b_z.jpg

The buttons as seen in-game. (so many different versions.) I sculpted them with some help from my sister who's pretty damn good at it.

6071699996_ca879ebe8d_z.jpg

The buckle is going okay, the image I'm sculpting over is a great lineart by a guy called Atari judging by the filename, someone else posted it on a different forum.

The leaves are proving to be hard to get perfect.

Hopefully I'll be able to put something up about the sewing soon.

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Double post. Got the pants done.
6132025081_e302707633_z.jpg

Couldn't find any dark brown pants without a million pockets down the legs, so I had to make my own.
6132024763_82d2d10793_z.jpg

And I'm pretty sure I've got all the materials for the entire costume now.

This isn't everything though obviously, some of the stuff is elsewhere or allready in use.

I havn't done much on the buckle since last post, would love some feedback on it first. :)

Thanks!

Would you mind posting the line art pic for the Buckle? I've been looking everywhere for a good one! Looking forward to your build, might help me with mine. Are you getting all your stuff at Jo Ann's Fabric?

Thanks guys!

I got most of my fabric from smaller fabric stores, and some of it from an Australian fabric store called Spotlight. The smaller store actually had a wider range of fabric, and was cheaper!

Okay I ended up finally finding the person who made the buckle lineart, shame the person I found it from on another forum didn't credit her properly.
Here's her deviantart: Templates by otaku-jrock on deviantART
Good luck with your build! It's a really complicated costume.

I'll try and get more pictures of the buckle up tommorow. And maybe the start of the tunic. :)

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

The buckle is looking great. I'm hopefully undertaking this project soon as well, I'll definitely keep on eye on this.
Thanks for the line art, I just figured out a decent mechanism for the wrist blade. I haven't built it yet, but thats where most of my research has gone and I'm pretty confident.

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Any updates? For mine I've decided to use as many pre-made items as I can, with modification of course. I did buy fabric for the hood and sash, still need more for cape though. Would love to see what you've gotten done.

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Thanks guys.

Sorry for the wait... The buckle has been delayed a bit and I've started on the leather working. Here's how the pauldron's going.

the underside is going to be a fake suede cause I don't have enough leather for both sides, the leather I'm using was allready dyed, finished and very thin so no tooling is going to happen, Instead I've painted the pattern on.

The underside.
6168504165_94761250f5_z.jpg

The foam.

Some fabric scraps.
6169039162_9b5cdbeffd_z.jpg

The pattern.

I'll try and gather some pictures together of what I've been doing with the fabric side of the costume soon. Capes done, shirt on the way, and the tunic / skirts are tacked together. And I've got 23 days until it needs to be "complete" :confused allthough I'll probably rework various bits as I become more competant at making costumes.

Thanks for reading.

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Sorry I havn't posted much, I've just been focusing on getting it done in time, so picture taking has taken a back seat. I found some time and got some pictures taken today though.

I finished the pauldron and cape. Any Ideas on how to dull, weather and blend the gold pattern in a bit more?

Re: Assassins creed 2 - Ezio

Hey again, it's done. . .!
The last weeks been really really busy, I only got the costume to a wearing stage on the morning of the expo, and I really wish I could have got a lot more done before we left. I'm happy with some pieces, less happy with others.

The skirts still need more top-stitching done to them, it was intentionally made to be pretty invisible. But I think it could do with showing up more.

So many hours and so much stress, worth it? I hope so.

The vambrace as it is right now, still very much a WIP.

6271024871_b6bbcaae0b_z.jpg

Piece of eden MK 1, I'll most likely be making several of these to get it right, this one was rushed and made with poor materials.

The expo was amazing, great people, great costumes, weird looks while crossing roads. Surprisingly I won third in the cosplay competition aswell :-D
I've still got heaps to do with this costume, but it's first outing went great, very popular.

I really couldn't have made this costume in such short time without all the pictures and posts from all the other awesome AC cosplayers out there, especially Fevereon and Forcebewitya on Deviantart, thanks so much guys.

Sadly no pics from the expo. No ones posted pictures on the internet yet.
Here's some pictures from the garden instead, the cape was sadly forgotten. . .

Sorry about my hair. I tied it back Ezio-style with a ribbon for the Expo.
And regrettably that sweet hand-and-half longsword is not mine; It's my sister's.

Yes, that's right. My sister's Master chief.
