12th Doctor - Outfit guesses?

Has anyone been able to ID which Crombie coat is his? I'm looking around the Crombie site and none of the coats seem to have the same details his does (no visible pockets, visible top button with lapels).

the crombie coat was custom made by crombie for the bbc they took one of ther classic coat and oltered it to the bbc secifications you could ask about getting one made but the standard coat cost over £700 for a custom one will be quiet pricey

Balls. Guess I (like pretty much everyone else) am looking at finding something close enough and modifying it or having one made from... somewhere else. Oh well.

Y'know...I see a LOT of discussion over Capaldi's wedding ring. If that really is his only accessory.

I%m sure there'll be some LOTR/WHO crossover discussion on the forums pretty soon.

Hoping someone will be making a replica of this soon. Seems pretty simple to make. Especially since the filming pics were released. We've got reference pics of the front, back, and side of the coat. Though, unless I've heard wrong, Crombie will actually make you the coat.

Some people have pointed out that Crombie has a cardigan (here) that might well be a match for his cardigan, but I'm not so sure because the Crombie is missing a seam going down the button stand. I found a similar cardigan by John Smedley (here) that has the correct button placement and the seam on the stand, but I think it might have one button too many. It's hard to tell. Thoughts?

The doctor's cardy also appears to have lapels, which I find brilliant. I bought a couple of cardigans with similar lapels on ebay a few months back that may still be there. I'm on my phone so I can't find a link, sorry.

That said, with the limited photos I can't vouch for the accuracy. I'm leaning towards not so much.
Gotta say, this costume is really growing on me.

*Upon looking at the pictures on a computer screen I learn I'm completely wrong. Please ignore me. My apologies.

The John Smedley cardigan is over $400 USD so I'm looking elsewhere. Here's one from Ralph Lauren that's under $100.

Unfortunately, the set pictures of the 12th Doctor don't really show if there are pockets on the front or not.

For the budget-constrained (and who of us aren't), here's an even cheaper one at Target. This would require the buttons to be replaced with white or grey but that's not a big deal.

To have the coat from Crombie to the exact specifications as Peter Capaldi's then they start at £1600 as it made to measure. The reply below:

"We offer a made to measure service at our stores where that same coat can be made to fit your personal measurements. The starting price for our made to measure overcoats is £1600.

I hope this helps and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you require any further assistance.

The boots may not be Docs, but AirWear DID make the soles of those boots for Loake...they are Doc Martens soles (and Goodyear welted to "boot"). So the heart and soul of those boots are Docs. And utterly appropriate for this outfit.

And as for his look? I LOVE it!!! The Doctor has regenerated, and with a sartorial edge that he's never really had before. It kind of says..

"Doctor Wholigan, from the Gallifrey Firm, putting the boot in to Cybermen and looking for bovver!"

From his Crombie Coat to his Doc-like boots, this is not a Doctor to screw with. He means business.

I was looking forward to Peter Capaldi becoming the Doctor since before he was even announced, and I'm gratified to see they took into account who Capaldi is in dressing his Doctor.
One other thing...to the folks who still might be on the fence because the new Doctor is "old"...look at the new The Doctor and realize that he is wearing the prototype of every youth culture tribal uniform worn for the last 50 years up to and including today.
To those who can recognize it, we're looking at what could be the most exciting regeneration of The Doctor yet (as long as Moff doesn't screw it up).

Does anyone know where that shirt comes from? It looks quite unique. The collar is about 5" long, and it has double-cuffs. Any help would be appreciated. :)

I find it interesting that everyone is saying that his pants are a dark navy.... to me they look like a charcoal color. Especially in new pictures of him in-costume. 46325.JPG

They very well could be, but to me the pants look charcoal (in all pictures I have seen).:) In the particular picture here, these are the charcoal pants I think they look like. I don't know, maybe I'm color blind...CharcoalBlue-Parker-Pleated-Pants-Lined-Trousers.jpg

Has anyone else noticed that the collar on his Crombie coat seems to be the same material as the rest of the coat and not the usual contrasting velvet? I can't seem to find any shot that makes it look like a velvet collar.

As for the pants, they are a true midnight blue, which often photographs as black. The cardigan and coat were also described as midnight blue, but they are a shade lighter than the pants, so I'd classify both of those as dark blue, not midnight.

And for those interested... we're working on an accurate reproduction of his cufflinks right now. Maybe the ring too! ;)

Kind regards,
Magnoli

FINALLY! I have been waiting for someone to replicate the Doctor's cufflinks! And yes, his coat seems to be very different from the Crombie coats they sell. The one on the website is a covert style (hidden buttons), has regular side pockets (as opposed to Peter's diagonal pockets), and a velvet collar. Peter's coat has none of these features... It turns out that topman makes a pretty good Crombie-style coat that looks more like the Capaldi's coat. The only downside, no red lining:crytopman-blue-navy-crombie-coat-product-1-16057228-553766558_large_flex.jpeg
