Re: "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank, Scratchbuild 1/35 WIP . . .
You're up kinda late ain't ya?
![]() I'm going to wuss out and do long pieces along the top and bottom, then singles along the curves. I'm gonna make one master to cast up, of course, and then take it from there. The treads on this thing are pretty cool, and have a great uneven shingle look to them. ![]() ![]() I'm hung up ona few pieces right now, and may have to halt here until I get to the hobby shop, or move onto the sides . . .not sure . . . Here's hoping my care package from Verlinden shows up soon with ammo boxes and duffel bags galore!! |

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank, PART ID Help!
Got the sides and gun mounts on. mounts were fun little pieces of geometry that will require some more work. i got the sides all blueprinted up too, so I should have them completed at weekend's end!
Here's a shot of the beast next to a Tamiya Tiger and an Interus Mark V. ![]() What's funny, is this will grow about 1/2 more on all sides once the tarps and various gear are added! |

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank, PART ID Help!
I found what it was, a 120mm Hesh containter, but I can't seem to find a resin one from anywhere. Verlinden had them, but i can't seem to find the ones I ordered, and now they don't have them on their site!! Ugh!!
Any help would be appreciated! |

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank, PART ID Help!
Updates!
At this point I'm pretty much ready to start a new tank with nice pretty sharp straight lines to kit for later. I'll finish this up and do a few more experiment parts, and then off to the races!! ![]()

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank, PART ID Help!
So I've got all of the hard stowage and tools scratched and ready. I cast a few up and planted them on the side to see the final effect. I'm very, very pleased, although I've laid about six layers of primer on this poor model. Not a big deal, because the first attempt has some wonky edges and angles, and some bad joins and the like that are not fit for reproduction, so I'm taking the day, and completely rebuilding the model. Shouldn't take me long, you know . . . until I rivet the thing. But I have some things in mind to recreate the rough texture of the steel and paint, so a redo has been part of the plan for a while. May start the soft stowage later next week.
If you're interested in one of these tanks, look for a preorder around the end of January. |

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank
i've gotten the whole of the tank rebuilt, all nice and straight, and am casting up rivets from a tank kit I had lying around, so this thing is gonna be very, very clean. Should have this kitted by months end!

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank
This is very cool. Nice job! I'd love to see some of the characters from the movie placed on it too, but that would be a very tough sculpting job.

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank
Nah, there are plenty of German troop sets out there, as well as 'citizen' sets that could all be modded to be the troops and Indy. Heck, i bet you could even find a horse!
I am trying to source all the trucks and what not if folks want to do a diorama. I'll be adding that stuff to the instructions. |

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank
Ha! I don't think the tank kit will cross the 150 mark . . . it's not gonna take that much.
As for the truck, I think a company just released that version of Mercedes truck about two months ago. I'll have to dig through my FIne Scales to check, but I'm 100% sure I saw it. |

Here's the truck from ICM models.THere are a couple of versions, but this one looks best. A few scratched items here and there, and you'll have an awesome model!

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank
Here's a pretty shot of the NEW side walls. These are textured with a touch of speckle, and three coats of primer, so that the thinner layers disappear a bit. Once riveted, they'll re-emerge. I'm moving onto the center section and its last few details, then the turret, then the riveting of the entire beast. Stowage is done, some will be added and cast with the sides and top, some will be separately cast. After that, we move to the treads and small details. Master tread is done and getting cast. Small details include the mounting points, tow points, and even scale gastank caps and wingnut heads.
More pics coming. We're nearly there!!

Re: WIP: 1/35 "Last Crusade" Mk VIII Tank
Thanks! Sides have only about three or four more little detail pieces needed, and treads have been started. Very tempted to make some kind of track linking system, but that might kick the price up a bit (eep!).
