Re: Wilco models
He was, but I forget his screne name. If I recall he was a friend of Wakel, and got a lot of Wakals molds when he started to cut back on offering kits. I found that out years ago, when I asked Wakal about one of his kits, and he told me that Wilco has them now, and he gave me wilcos screen name, but that was years ago, and I do not recall it. All I know, is that is't something other then "wilco". (If I recall correctly anyways.)

Re: Wilco models
I think it was called Dreadnaught Industries and the guy's name was Bill if I rember right. I used to buy loads of kits from Wakal and him years ago but it's all a little fuzzy now.

Re: Wilco models
..... and are in the mood for what are apparently stories.
If what he told me is a story, then man, this guy spins a mean one. Unlike others, however, stories or not, my patience had reached its limit. Just glad he was quick at refunding when I asked for it. |

Re: Wilco models
For me if he's gotten that slow it's not worth waiting for another bladerunner gun, i'll just keep an eye out for one.

Re: Wilco models
Wow, I bought an x-wing helmet WAAAAY back in 2006 or so now from them. It took forever, its grossly oversized (because its cast over the top of either a real helmet or someone elses, versus being a proper sized sculpt...)
I too got a story about issues with health etc. This guy must have the worst luck in the world lol I realize stuff comes up, but constantly through the course of years would be tragic ![]() Oh well, I've not really heard of people not getting things, just that it takes a long time and may have questionable origins. Hope it works out for you guys. |

Well, having dealt with him many times, I expect a slow turnaround of at least a week or two. I just ordered a Firefly prop set from him last Thursday and he emailed me yesterday updating that he was casting them up. I know his stuff isn't accurate, but they have been good casts and been great pieces with some personal modifications to improve the accuracy some. I'll post an update when I receive them.

Re: Wilco models
I am Dreadnaught Industries LLC. Bill is Wilco Models
![]() Bill is now retired, but I am still on active duty. He has a bunch of health problems, and has being going through some rather serious personal events...but also picked up a "meat space" job that he adores (and is very good...at...). He has dropped the prop side almost entirely due to eBay's new policy of reporting all income to the IRS, as well as some of their other shady habits with their shell company, Paypal. I run a 07/SOT these days (translated from gungeek, that means that I am a firearms manufacturer of everything that isn't a destructive device or ammunition). I do a lot of machine gun repair work these days, and built a lot of competition guns (my preferred market, since I compete rather a lot when I am not off in another country) and police weapons for various departments, as well as conducting small arms and CQB training. Great fun! That business has kept me hopping since I got back from 18 months off playing somewhere that gets loud five times a day, almost five years ago now. I still do "real" gun props, and am just finishing up a real Mauser/ANH-Hero that will be on the market as soon as it is complete (just need to assemble it now). My Raiders/Smith and Wesson (British proofs) is finally done, with a custom front sight on the now-4" barrel, and is redone in 45ACP/moon clips. That project only took...thirty years...or so...but looks great with my two-decades old Morgan and my nice new "Bar Scene" Headpiece, so all is proceeding as I have foreseen. Or would have, anyway, if I could...foresee... ![]() But the "big" gun market keeps me occupied. I've done four hundred AR's this year alone, and am working up a 308 receiver set that I hope will sell well. My line of micro suppressors will hit the market as soon as I scrape up the cash to have the baffles cast in bulk, and my "zombie" marked AR receivers are probably going to be a bit late to the shark-jumping "zombie" marketplace but still look cool. Fun stuff. Alex |

Re: Wilco models
Well, it's great to hear that your doing well, and I'm really sorry to hear that Bill (Wilco) is really having problems. I have hear so many stores from him I was getting to the point that I just thought He was making stuff up, but now I feel kind of bad, he is a nice guy, and I hope it all clears up for him.
Man I really hate to see Wilco get out of the prop business. First I used to get cheep (well affordable ) props from you wakal, then wilco, now were to turn. Most of the other cheep stuff I have bout out there, has tons of bubbles and pits in it, and are clearly recasts. I like have folks that I trusted, that did all the props I love. And I have so many more items I had planned to buy off of wilco. |
